Stephen Lee

Passed away unexpectedly on August 3, 2009 in Santa Rosa. Born June 22, 1939 in Hong Kong, Stephen completed his education at Oxford University with a BS in Chemistry, and taught English at Oxford English College in Hong Kong. He and his parents immigrated to America in 1962. In 1964, he opened a successful Chinese restaurant in Santa Rosa which operated for more than eight years. In 1973, he started Applied Photographic Laboratory, the first commercial photo finishing business in Northern California, which operated for over 22 years. He also subcontracted to the Army Corps of Engineers at Lake Sonoma for more than 10 years. One of his greatest accomplishments was the designing and fabrication of a hydraulic brake bleeding system for which he and his son, Steven, were awarded a patent in October 1999. In addition to running a successful business, he was a great father, husband, teacher, problem solver and a person who cared about giving to others. He is survived by his wife Susie; his son Steven and daughter-in-law Seap Soy (Sui Lin); close friends Chad, Glen, Larry, Jim and Gloria, all of Santa Rosa.
