Wallace Schultz Obituary
Wallace McLean Schultz
January 11, 1943 - August 9, 2025
Wallace "Wally" McLean Schultz was born in Pomona, California, to Wallace "Big Wally" and Margaret "Peggy" Schultz. Known affectionately as "Buddy" or "Bud" in his youth, he attended Ganesha High School before graduating from Colorado College in 1964. At CC, Wally pledged Sigma Chi Fraternity, forging lifelong friendships and proudly remaining a Sig for life. It was also there that he met the love of his life, Charlotte "Shally" Alderfer Schultz, who preceded him in death.
Wally and Shally welcomed twin sons on November 10, 1967. Their firstborn, Frederick "Rick," married Helen Vadnais and together they have a son, Logan. Their second son, Peter, married Christine Kaelin and shares his life with her and her three children.
After college, Wally and Shally returned to Southern California, where Wally explored various career paths before discovering his passion for real estate. He eventually founded Exclusive Homes, with offices in Rancho Cucamonga and Upland. Navigating decades of market fluctuations, Wally later launched City Commercial Property Management known as CityCom from the basement of their home. Over the next 30 years, he built CityCom into a thriving business, ultimately selling it to his long-time employees.
For over three decades, Wally and Shally made their home on Red Hill in Rancho Cucamonga, while spending weekends at their cherished cabin in Lake Arrowhead. After retirement, in 2006 they relocated to Healdsburg, California, where they enjoyed almost twenty wonderful years together until Shally's passing in 2024.
Wally was a devoted Rotarian and an integral member of both the Upland and Healdsburg Rotary Clubs, earning multiple Paul Harris Fellow honors. Fondly nicknamed "Wino Wally," he was known for his generous spirit, infectious energy, and his knack for bringing exceptional wine to every gathering. His commitment to Sigma Chi continued throughout his life, culminating in the prestigious Order of Constantine for his role in founding the Theta Sigma Chapter and its fraternity house at Cal Poly Pomona.
Together, Wally and Shally gave generously of their time to organizations such as OPARC, Meals on Wheels, and many other charitable causes.
Wally was widely regarded as "the smartest guy in the room," which made his battle with dementia especially heartbreaking. Following Shally's passing, his condition worsened, and he spent his final year in memory care. Even in decline, he never stopped searching for Shally or his beloved Lexus ES300 always trying to find his way home. Today, we take comfort in knowing he has finally found her, and they are once again together, sharing a glass of wine on their porch in heaven.
No services are planned currently. The family hopes to hold a joint celebration of life for Wally and Shally in the future. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to your local hospice organization, whose compassionate care meant so much to them both, and to the family.
