William Stubbs Obituary

William Frank Stubbs
October 4, 1944 - October 11, 2022
Bill Stubbs passed away 10-11-22 at Primrose, due to Parkinson's Disease. He was preceded in death by his wife Gloria (December 22, 1934 - May 17, 2017), father and mother, Walter and Mary Stubbs, and brother, David Stubbs. He is survived by his sister, Nancy Stubbs Cox, sister-in-law, Robin Stubbs, and niece, Bethany Cox. He was born in Bruning, Nebraska during World War II. He grew up on a farm near Monticello, Minnesota, graduating from Monti H.S. in 1962. He also received a bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Engineering from the U. of Minnesota in 1967, and a Master's in Civil Engineering from San Jose State University in California.
Bill married Gloria Sullivan on July 12, 1978. She taught elementary school while he was employed as a naval engineer at Mare Island Naval Shipyard, an adjunct professor in engineering at Cal Poly, and an engineer at Beepex. Bill's many interests included making airplanes and boomerangs, playing his euphonium, rehabilitating old tractors, and building his house, the Ranch, near Healdsburg, CA. He also tutored math, calculus, and engineering students in his retirement in Santa Rosa. He loved music and bringing old tractors and caterpillars back to life.
A memorial service will be held at Daniels Chapel of the Roses, Santa Rosa, CA, on Thursday November 17 at 11:00. Bequests may be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation or to Primrose Care Facility, 2080 Guerneville Rd., Santa Rosa, CA 95403.
