Beloved husband of Janice Swain, died on Oct. 28, 2025 at home at age 88. He was born in Bassett, Virginia and had 4 brothers and 1 sister that pre-deceased him.
An Air Force Veteran and retired PG&E heavy crew foreman, he leaves behind 3 sons, Melvin Dixon, (Melanie), Kevin Dixon and William Swain, Jr. (Reen), sister-in-law Cindy Marsh, sister-in-law, Marissa Johnston, 3 grandchildren, Jessica Jones, Stephanie Birdwell and Nicole Dixon, and 3 great grandchildren, Samantha Boyer, (Nathan), Ethan Cramer, Madelaine Jones and Adison Ransom.
Service will be private.
In lieu of flowers, please plant a tree in his honor.

Sending love from Virginia. I still treasure the time I got to know Uncle Bill better on my trip to San Francisco. I will always remember seeing the sequoia trees with Bill and Jan and him explaining how ground up bark was called gorilla fur. I remember him telling me to never take the same path twice in life. That has stuck with me. I know we didn´t stay in touch well but he was loved by me. I will plant a pecan tree here in Bill´s honor. Not quite a sequoia but a pecan will still get big and have an impact on others with its fruit.

I always looked forward to having a conversation with Uncle Bill at our annual Christmas party. He was the quiet one who always had so much to say. He was kind, thoughtful and I always enjoyed his stories.
Growing up, I thought that if I found someone who loved me even half as much as Uncle Bill loved Auntie Jan, I'd be incredibly lucky. You could see how he much he genuinely loved and adored her, and that their marriage was truly something special.
I’ll miss our conversations, his gentle humor, and his peaceful energy. The world feels a little dimmer without him, but I’m so grateful to have known his light. ❤
