June 29, 1952 - January 12, 2021 "All the pain and grief is over, every restless tossing passed; he is now at peace forever, safely home in Heaven at last." Andrew Richard Trtan, Jr. ("Andy", "Big A"), of Lake Elsinore, CA, passed peacefully on the morning of January 12, 2021. He was born on June 29, 1952 in Michigan City, IN, the third-born of Ann (Yurkovich) and Andy Trtan's four children. Andy was a graduate of Elsinore High School and was a gifted athlete and team leader, on and off the field. Andy was Student Body President at Elsinore High School 1969-70. He represented his team and teammates well in three varsity sports; football, basketball and baseball. Andy was the catcher/outfielder on the Elsinore 1970 CIF Championship Baseball Team and was selected to be named 1st Team all CIF. He went on to play baseball for Chapman University from 1970-1974. After graduating from Chapman University Andy headed to Steamboat Springs, CO. where he forged numerous lasting friendships and mastered the sport of skiing in the beautiful mountains of Steamboat Springs. After several years in Colorado, he returned "home" to California where he welcomed and relished the company of his extended family and friends, Andy worked for Stouffer Gardener Construction in Chula Vista before becoming a Supervisor for the San Diego International Airport Food and Beverage Department. Still looking for change, he was hired as Bar Manager at "McDini's Bar" in National City, CA. before finally moving to Los Angeles where he was employed as an aide to the elderly in an assisted-living facility. He retired to his family home in Lake Elsinore in 2016. Andy enjoyed the people and friendships he developed at the Lake Elsinore Moose Lodge Post 1021. Andy would always say " they're all good people, I enjoy being with them". Andy was predeceased by his parents, Ann and Andy Trtan and by his younger brother Mark Trtan who died in 2013. He is survived by his sister Cheryl Trtan of La Mesa; brother John and his wife Lin of Edwards, CO; nephews Kevin Hagen (Amy) of La Mesa and Alex Trtanj of Ft. Collins, CO; and nieces Lorissa Berkheimer (John) of La Mesa and Madeline Trtanj of Edwards, CO. He also leaves behind three great-nieces Ashlee Hagen, Mackenzie Berkheimer and Emma Hagen, all of La Mesa. A celebration of Andy's life will take place at a later date when friends and family can gather freely from the current pandemic restrictions. Rest in Peace, "Big A"
