January 5, 1970 - March 15, 2023 David passed peacefully at home surrounded by his loving family. Growing up in Riverside, CA, he attended both St. Catherine's of Alexandria Preparatory and Notre Dame High Schools before joining the Marines. After finishing his tour, he moved to the Sacramento area and became a Sacramento Police Officer, first on their mounted unit, then on patrol, and finishing his career on the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Team. A renaissance man, he enjoyed hiking, road trips, history, the military, cooking and baking bread. He was happiest spending time with family, which included living life with his wife, Melissa, and his K-9 partner/pet, Waverly, on their farm and visiting brothers, sisters, cousins across the U.S. David was preceded in his passing by his beloved mother and father (Rita and James D. Turner) and father-in-law (James Richardson). He is survived by his wife, Melissa; his brothers and sisters: Stephanie Turner, Judy (Udo) Singer, Chris (Annette) Turner, Candice (Allen) Baron, Darryl (Rumiko) Turner, Monica Turner; mother-in-law, Trula; father-in-law, James (Patricia) Overton; sisters-in-law: Suzanna (Brian) Robinson, Elizabeth (Nick) Kerner; nieces and nephew: Alexis, Crystal, Robert, Marci, Courtney, Reese; great nieces and nephews: Braden, Avery, McKenna, Chasity, Riley, Jonathan. The family asks that, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to PORAC Fund-A-Hero (https://porac.org/members/fund-a-hero/) and scroll down to "In Honor of Sacramento Police Officer David Turner".
