Gerald York Obituary

Gerald "Gerry" Eugene York, (53) of Riverside, CA, passed away suddenly on November 1, 2021 due to unknown health circumstances. He is survived by his wife, Michelle York; his daughter, Charlotte; his mother, Charlotte Butt; his father, George Butt; his sister, Belinda Butt; his sister, Brenda Butt Denholtz and her family: his brother-in-law, Michael Denholtz; his nieces Milenda Andrews, Mikenzie Denholtz and Maxene Denholtz; his nephew Myles Denholtz; his great-niece Racer and his great-nephew Rocket; his sister-in-law, Melissa Archibald; his brother-in-law, Jeff Archibald and his brother-in-law, Scott Burkley. He was predeceased by his sister, Beverly. Gerry was born at the Riverside March Air Force Base Hospital on June 21, 1968 and was a graduate of Riverside Poly High School. With over 30 years working at The Disneyland Resort, he is most famously known for the 20+ years he worked on the World Famous Jungle Cruise and was considered by many - direct reports, peers, managers, and even Walt Disney Imagineers - as "the heart of the jungle." However, while he may have been 'the heart of the jungle,' his heart was wholly devoted to his loving wife and the light of their life, their 2-year-old daughter. He is remembered for his humor, love of family, loyalty and his caring for others; love of music (The Police and The Rolling Stones), games (card, board, video and arcade), easter-egg-hiding skills and big "Ger-bear" hugs. Gerry will forever be missed but never forgotten. His existence was proof that many lives can be impacted by seemingly small acts of kindness and generosity. A Celebration of Life will be held at The Grand Californian Hotel on Saturday, November 27th at 1 PM in the Trillium room. Memorial donations may be made to the GoFundMe page that was created to help his wife and daughter financially stabilize themselves through this difficult time: https://gofund.me/a54f0d9c
