Gregory Helms Obituary
Gregory Joseph Helms, a member of the Soboba Band of Luiseño Indians, passed away on August 9, 2017 in Murrieta, CA. He was born in Hemet, Ca on November 7, 1951. He passed away at the age of 65 after a 2 1/2-year fight with an illness. Greg is preceded in death by his father Benny Charles Helms Sr. He is survived by his mother Alice Louise Helms; his brothers Benny Helms Jr. & Neal Helms and their families; his children, Shane & Christina Helms, Rebecca Helms, Erica & Michael Schenk & Andrea Helms; his four grandsons, Takoda Helms, Chayton Helms & Joseph Schenk, Hunter Schenk; his aunt & god mother Marian Chacon; along with the Gail Trujillo family. He was raised in the San Jacinto Valley and graduated from San Jacinto High School in 1969. Throughout the years Greg enjoyed playing football, baseball, softball and riding motorcycles. Greg was loved and will be missed by his many cousins, nieces, nephews, family members and friends. A memorial service will be held on Friday, August 18th at 7 p.m. at the Word of God Fellowship Church, 36188 Pala Temecula Road, Pala, Ca, 92059. Graveside service and final resting place will be on Saturday, August 19th at 10:00 a.m. at the Soboba Indian Reservation Cemetery. Flowers can be delivered to Inland Memorial Harford Chapel in Hemet.
