Helen P. Brush, age 91, of Quincy, died Wednesday, November 9, 2022, at 12:05 a.m., in Cedarhurst Assisted Living.
She was born August 31, 1931, in Ewing, Missouri, the daughter of Richard L. and Daisy Hummert Adams Harness. On November 5, 1948, she married Lelon "Bud" Brush in Palmyra, MO. He preceded her in death on December 23, 2012.
Helen worked as an assistant to the Circuit Clerk in Kankakee County. She volunteered at the Veteran's Home in Manteno, IL, and was active in Cub Scouts for many years. Helen loved doing genealogy, was a wonderful artist, designed programs for her monthly Ladies Group, and also ran a food pantry when she lived in Texas. Lelon and she loved going camping together. She was also a fan of the Chicago Cubs.
She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene. She was a lifelong believer but came into a closer walk with Jesus Christ later in her sixties. Her faith was a deep and meaningful part of her life.
Helen is survived by her son, Duane Brush and wife Nora of Quincy; daughter, Carol Lind and husband Ed of Normal, IL; six grandchildren, Adrian (Andrea) Brush, Darren (Chris) Brush, Lorne (Melissa) Brush, David (Alicia) Brush, Johanna (Etienne) Nation-Vallee, and Libby (Chris) Harness; ten great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Helen was preceded in death by her parents; son Larry (Elaine) Brush; brother, Richard Jasper Harness; and sister Mary Lou Dodge.
Services: 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene with Rev. Mark Madigan and Rev. Wayne LaForce officiating.
Burial: Greenmount Cemetery, Quincy, Illinois
Visitation: 10:00 - 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at Emmanuel Church of the Nazarene.
