HERMAN D. HANKS "DALE" of Banning, CA, passed away at his home after a courageous battle against cancer. He was called to be with the lord on Tuesday, September 15, 2015. Dale was born January 3, 1941 in Brawley, California. Dale was a proud owner and operator of Dale Hanks Trucking for over 25 years. From the late 1960's he was heavily into the Southern California Stock Car Racing Scene. Nicknamed "The Banning Bomber" by longtime Orange Show Nascar International announcer Dave Carlile, Dale was a fiery competitor on tracks from San Bernardino, Corona, Saugus, El Cajon, Irwindale, Bakersfield and Las Vegas. Dale had many hobbies and activities, but camping with his family and friends at Glamis was his favorite. Dale's passion for dune buggies and camping provided countless life-long memories to his family. Dale is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Jennie Hanks of Banning; daughters Cynthia (John) Vallesillo of Beaumont, Juanita Mayhood of Yucca Valley, Becky (Clay) Shaw of San Diego, California and Hazel (Scott) Stevens of Milton, Florida; 13 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; 1 great'great grandchild; brother Wendell Hanks of Lake Isabella, Ca; sister Johnnie Davis of Ralliegh, North Carolina, and extended family member Dean Fudala of Walkoloa, Hawaii. The family wishes to recognize Tony Kinkaide of Pahrump, Nevada, Dale and Tony held a special friendship with their love of auto racing that bonded them of over 40 years. He was preceded in death by his son Edward Glen Hanks, his parents Herman Glen and Grace Hazel Hanks, sisters Mary (Minia) Hopson and Geraldine Moser. A Special Thank you to:Terry Grisham, Cecelia Reyna, Gloria Garcia, Danny Bradshaw, Red Mayhood and Patty Thompson for being here when you were needed most. His family sends heartfelt gratitude to long'time family friend Steve Romberg for his selfless dedication and support throughout Dale's battle; you will always have a special place in our hearts. A Celebration of life will be held at the family residence at 684 Plaza st. in Banning on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 1:00pm.

Well what can I say, you have always been here for all of us grand children... you and grandma have always been a big part of our lives. I remember holidays were always great at your house everyone together laughing and enjoying one another. Washing the diesel was always the best I'm pretty sure we all faught over who gets to do it next. Even when I became a young adult and decided to live my life in a distructive way, you and grandma never turned your back on me. I remember you showing up in the diesel at that nasty house I was staying in to take me to lunch and you and grandma always making sure I was eating and, even though I was messed up you both still wanted to hang out with me. (I'm sure it's was just to keep an eye on me) but still made me feel good that I still had you both... haha I remember when I would stay the night with you guys we would always watch jerry springer.... wow crazy people but we laughed together that was awesome! I'll miss you so much but I won't be sad because we will be together again and when we do.... we will laugh together again... I love you grandpa, thank you for always loving me and accepting me for exactly what I am.

God saw him getting tired, and a cure was not to be. So he put his arms around him and whispered "come to me."
With tearful eyes we watched him suffer, and saw him slowly fade
away.Although we loved him dearly, we could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating, hard working hands put to rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, he only takes the best.
