James Bergen Obituary

Jim was born on April 1, 1936, to Harold Bergen and Maureen (Lowell) Bergen in Glendale, CA. The Bergen's settled in Bloomington, CA where Jim developed his entrepreneurial spirit learning to work hard while raising chickens and helping take care of the family dairy farm along with his sister Haroldine (Bergen) Swing. Jim graduated from Colton High School. Jim and his wife Betty (Roberts) Garcia successfully owned and operated Bergen's Food and Trucking Companies. Betty predeceased him, along with Jim's two children Rick and Lori from a previous marriage. Jim is survived by his step children Gregory & Mary Lou Garcia, Julie & Brian Poore; five grandchildren, Stephen, Kevin, Michael & Theresa Garcia, Emily Poore, Brandon Bergen and two great-grandchildren, Maria and Gianna Garcia. Additionally, he is survived by his first cousin, Joal Mayer, his nephew and niece Gordon & Karen Swing, Nancy & Eddie Boyd, their children and grandchildren. The celebration of Jim's life will occur on Saturday, September 2, 2023, at 11am at the family home. Jim, you were an inspiration to so many. Thank you for your love and kindness.
