James Parker Obituary

James W. Parker (Jim) died at the age of 81 on November 16, 2021 from a massive brain bleed. Barbara, his wife and partner of 55 years and his only sibling, Judith Parker-Harris, an author and producer, were at his side. Jim was born in San Diego, CA, and lived his entire life in Southern California. Jim was proud to say that he started working at age 12 and never stopped. He graduated from San Diego State College in 1966, and went on to work for Arthur Anderson & Co., a big 8 accounting firm in Los Angeles. In 1971, he went to work for Fleetwood Enterprises, Inc. and was a valued member of its tax department for 9 years before he decided to start his own CPA firm. Jim continued to work in public accounting until his retirement in 2017. When he wasn't hard at work, Jim enjoyed his life by participating in a number of hobbies. He enjoyed skiing, photography, and woodworking and, as a member of the Victoria Club for 25 yearsa round of golf with Barbara and friends, played an enjoyable and important part in his life. In 2006, Jim and Barbara began to travel--taking trips throughout the world. Their last major trip took them to Australia and New Zealand, shortly before Covid-19 took its grip on the world and ended their travel plans. In recent times, Jim indulged himself in his love of cooking and baking and, in his desire to entertain family and friends. Jim took great pleasure in his work, his clients, his family and his dogs. A Celebration of Jim's Life is currently being planned and details will be following shortly after Thanksgiving.
