John O. Pompa

JOHN O. POMPA John went to Heaven on April 21, 2014, at the age of 88. He was born in San Antonio, Texas. He served in the U.S. Navy, in World War II. He moved to California in 1957, and lived in Riverside 45 years. Johnny worked for Alvord Unified School District for 26 years. He was a head custodian at Rose Mary Kennedy School. He was a member of Bethel Christian Center Church. Johnny enjoyed his family in California and made many trips to visit his family in Texas. His hobbies were going to yard sales and restoring his treasures in his work shop for his sales. He played a lot of golf. He was proud of his hole-in-one on the 7th green at Brea Golf Course. Johnny is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Connie Pompa; his loving daughter, Patricia Grant (husband Bob Grant); devoted grandson, John Grant (Samantha Grant), and his beautiful great granddaughter, Sophia Grant; two step grandsons Matthew and Daniel Grant and their families; his two brothers in Texas, Roger Pompa (Dora Pompa) and Roy Pompa (Yvonne Pompa) and nieces & nephews. Johnny was predeceased in death by his father Gus Pompa, mother Rosa Pompa, brother Russell Pompa and sister Rosie Sullivan (Raymond Sullivan). Family and friends are invited to the funeral services celebration May 22, 2014, 10 am at Arlington Mortuary, 9645 Magnolia Ave, Riverside, CA. Inurnment following in Riverside National Cemetery, staging area #3 at 12:30pm. Luncheon to follow at the daughter's home.
