Kenneth Barney Obituary

KENNETH DAVID (KEN) BARNEY Ken passed away in the comfort of his home, on August 25, 2015. Ken was born at home, on July 12, 1936 to Orin and Opal Barney in Solomonville, Arizona. He spent his childhood growing up in Clifton, Arizona where he graduated from Clifton High School in 1954. In June of 1955, he enlisted in the United States Army where he spent the majority of his service in Germany as a teletype repairman. He was honorably discharged in 1958. Ken returned to Clifton where he married Margaret Ortega on October 19, 1959 and went on to attend the University of Arizona in Tucson (Bear Down), where he received a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting in 1963. Upon graduation, Ken and Margaret moved to Glendale, California and shortly thereafter to Corona, California where they would raise their three children John, Michael and Jeanette. Ken spent 25 of these years working in the Accounting Department for the Kwikset Corporation. He spent many an afternoon tinkering in his garage, gardening and coaching Little League Baseball. Ken played softball into his 50's and enjoyed spending the occasional afternoon working on his golf game. After relocating to Lake Havasu City, Arizona in 2002, he found enjoyment in boating, bowling, and cheering on the Arizona Diamondbacks and the University of Arizona football and basketball teams. Ken was preceded in death by his mother and father, sister Jeri, brother Wayne, and wife of 40 years, Margaret. He leaves behind his brother Beven; sons John and Michael; daughter Jeanette, and his four grandchildren, Alex, Brooke, Emma and Jake. Per Ken's wishes there will be no service and his ashes will be scattered at sea.
