Larry Guidotti Obituary

GUIDOTTI, LARRY March 19, 1931 - March 16, 2007 At the home of Larry Guidotti, Jesus opened the gates of Heaven to him at 12:22 am March 16th, three days short of his 76th birthday. Larry was born in Los Angeles, and met Geri, his wife to be, at San Dieguito High school in 1949. He served his country in the army with the 40th Division during the Korean War. Married in 1954, he worked for Knudsen Creamery in San Diego for 20 years then transferred to San Bernardino where he worked in management with Knudsen & Kraft Foods until he retired in 1988. Larry made Yucaipa his home for 33 years. During that time, God granted Larry and Geri the enjoyment of traveling in their 5th wheel after selling some income properties. Left behind to follow is his wife Geri, son Mark and his wife Sheri of Corona, daughter DeVon Lidar and her husband Tor of Yucaipa, 3 grandchildren - Brian, Shannon and Flint, his sister Marlene Keith of San Diego and her husband Zane who is a lifelong friend, and many nieces and nephews. He also leaves John Farrell, a friend of 43 years who is part of our family. We are certain he was greeted at the gates of Heaven by his granddaughter Erin Michelle Guidotti. There will be private graveside services at El Camino Memorial Park in San Diego on March 21st, followed by a Celebration of Life at his home in Yucaipa on April 7, 2007.

Why do the White Doves call?

A Friend

October 24, 2012

Lay down your sweet and weary head
Night is falling, you have come to Journey's end.
Sleep now, and dream of the ones who went before,
They are waiting on a far and peaceful shore.

Why do we weep? What are these tears upon our face?
Soon we will see all of our cares pass away.
Here in my heart, your gently sleeping.

What can you see on the Horizon?
Why do the White Doves call?
Across the sea, a star is shining,
The ships have come to carry you home.

And all will turn to silver glass,
A light on the water, 'all Souls pass...

Tears fade, into the world of light,
Through shadows lifting out of memory and time.
Don't say, 'We have come now to the end.
White shores are calling, You and I will meet again.

And you'll be here in my heart, gently sleeping.

WHEN I WAS YOUNG MY FATHER AND I WOULD WATCH THE DIFFERENT LAYERS OF THE BIRTHDAY CAKE DISAPPEAR IN THE OCEAN WHICH ALWAYS UPSET ME. HE WOULD REASSURE ME,IT WOULD RETURN.WHEN YOU AND I MET AND PARKED AT THE BEACH IT ALWAYS RETURNED, WHEN OUR CHILDREN ARRIVED AND THEN OUR GRANDCHILDREN THEY ALL LEARNED THE SAME STORY. I CAN,T BEGIN TO IMAGINE WHAT YOUR EYES ARE BEHOLDING NOW LARRY BUT SOMDAY WE WILL ALL KNOW.THE PICTURE IN THE PHOTO GALLERY FROM DEBBIE IS WHAT BROUGHT BACK THIS STORY THAT STARTED OVER SEVENTY YEARS AGO.

The birthday cake is never ending...

OUR FRIEND HARLAN IS WITH YOU.I HAVE MORE FAMILY AND FRIENDS WITH YOU THAN THERE ARE HERE ON EARTH.THIS IS WHAT PROMPTED ME TO WRITE AGAIN.IT LOOKS A LITTLE LIKE RAIN. SURE COULD USE SOME. VERY HOT YEAR.I TALK QUITE OFTEN TO YOU. OH TO HEAR YOUR VOICE AGAIN AND FEEL YOUR TOUCH.I AM GRATEFUL I STILL HAVE MY MEMORIES. I THINK SO MUCH ABOUT MY LIFE AND THE ONLY REGRETS I FEEL ARE THE LOSING OF MY LOVED ONES. I HAVE HAD A VERY GOOD LIFE AND AT THIS POINT AM BLESSED HAVING MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS CLOSE AND HAVING MY FIONA.I HAVE LEARNED TO PUSH ASIDE THE TERRIBLE MOMENTS OF YOUR ILLNESS AND REMEMBERING OUR TRIPS TOGETHER AND FUN TIMES TOGETHER THROUGHOUT OUR 53 YEARS.I LOVE YOU AS MUCH TODAY AS I DID WITH OUR VOWS ON MAY 22 1954.

We said goodbye to another dear friend, my love. I guess.. we are at that age.. like Reva used to say. My life will never be like it once was with you and I am trying to make the best of it. I miss our "go bye bye "days together, and so does Loris. You are always in my thoughts and actions. It doesn't get better .You learn there is nothing that can bring you back. I Love you forever.

My Love,Last Sunday the family released 18 balloons at your gravesite. We sent our personal thoughts with them. It was such a blue sky with little white clouds here and there. We were to see the red balloons I,m sure till they reached you. I feel your presense constantly and know you are with me always.

Hello my Darling, It is almost six months, but seems like only yesterday that we discussed so many things. One thing that is happening that helps me is I am trying to not remember the painfull times you went thru, but all of the good times we had. The pain slips in naturally but I look up and feel your presence and calmness takes over. I know God is also with me. I feel sorry for those who do not believe, because I do have comfort in knowing you are with him,and not just gone. On Dad and Moms anniversary,Sept.7, I found a new home for Spotrig and her guide. She gave us so many happy times together and it was hard to give her up, but I know she will continue to give happiness to others. I Thank God every night for the beautiful life he gave us.and I Thank him for lending me you.Forever and Ever,

My Love,Today Mark,Sherie,DeVon Tor, John, Nicole and Flint went with me to the cemetary to check out your marker. When they called to tell me it was set, I fell completely to pieces, but today I had amazing strength to face seeing another chapter in our book of life. Our children were so good to me, I know you are very proud that you left me in good hands. The marker is very nice, but no vase. We left yellow roses and white daisies and I am sure the critters will enjoy them tonight. On the marker is written Forever and Ever(our song) Our Life. You are with me always,my love.

Dear Larry,

It's so hard to believe you are gone. When I think of you, I see you smiling and laughing, standing with your arm around Geri, with both of your arms arms open to receive me. I warmly remember the feel of you and Geri embracing me. You have both given me many happy memories. I will never forget you. Love, Debra

Dear Geri,

We do go back a long time and as I said before, the memories, the friendshipss, including your parents and mine, will be in our hearts forever. We have drifted apart through the years, but we always find our way back. The following poem was written by my Mom in 1956 for her oldest sister when she passed and I know, Mom would be pleased and proud that I send it to you, Geri, from Larry:

This is not goodbye,
just say goodnight as we have done so many times before. Do not shed tears of grief because I've been called home for I have found such wondrous peace with God. Of course you'll miss me and it's right you should, but we will meet again before too long. All failures, trials and heartaches are forgot, in this bright land of God's eternal dawn. You know I've loved you dearly, but God loves you more, So try to find the path that leads you right and then you'll know why I say, not goodbye, but just, my dear, Goodnight.

Larry,

My Best Friend, My Life-Long Best Friend, My Brother-in-law, My Brother, I Miss You. What a wonderful time we have had since the very first time we met, many many years ago in front of Kilroy's Market in Leucadia. That great time continued all through our school years, in the Army in Korea, getting our pilots license together, traveling together in our 5TH wheel trailers (Marlene & I following you and Geri)And just being together. What a truly great time we have been blessed with. This life we have shared will never be forgotten. Then one day you gave me my greatest gift, you gave me your only sister, to watch over and take care of, and she is the Love Of My Life, She Is My Life, Thankyou Larry. Then GOD gave you your Greatest Gift - Geri - to watch over and take care of. What God Hath Joined Together, in sickness & in health, let no man seperate, Until Death Do You Part. Those vows you have fulfilled -- 53 wounderful years.
You are missed very much and you always will be. Your sister, my wife, and I have shed many tears of sorrow since you went away, and we have also shed many tears of joy, because we know where you are and you have been made perfect. You will always be a great loss to us until we meet again, and I know we will meet again. Our son Don told me that he knew you & I have been great friends for a very long time and we hung in together right to the very end. He was right and I just have to say that I am very greatful that I was blessed to be with you when you left, holding on to you - My Buddy Forever, and Forever Never Ends! Love You Larry - Until we meet again.

Larry,

I didn’t have a lifetime to get to know you, but from the time I first drove up - scrutinized carefully through your binoculars - until the day we said goodbye, one thing was obvious about you: Your family meant everything to you. Your devotion to your wife and the love you felt for your children and grandchildren were paramount, and I can truly say it is my great pleasure and privilege to be a part of your family. Good journey, Larry, and thank you. You will be deeply missed, and your love will live on through your family.

Dad
I walked the park again today and looked over to the 5 th wheels that were camping and thought of the many trips we made there, hoping there could have been one more time for you. You loved the campfires, breakfast lasted all morning and the fight on who was going to make the margaritas. You always offered to help set up our tent. I'm going to miss those days with you dad.
Love you ....Your daughter DeVon

Larry Guidotti, a name and person I remember so well, at San Dieguito High School. Although I never got to know Larry personally, while we were in school together, his name always "rang a bell" with me, because he was so well known. So, I knew his upstanding reputation. He seemed to have many friends, and the girls flocked after this handsome steed. I wish I had been closer friends with him, while we were in school. We met at reunions, and then the young man had become a mature adult, and I captured the essence of his personality and knew that he and Geri made a perfect pair.
God Blesses you, Larry and Geri
Please, continue to take care of Geri and help her to endure her loss of a fine husband and gentleman.

My Friends:
It still isn't real to me. When I think of visting it's still Geri and Larry. When I think of calling it's still you guys. It's only when I stop and think about what happened that I realize my best friend isn't there any more and it's then that I feel an emptyness I can't discribe. I want to laugh with my buddy one more time. I guess that want will be with me for a long time to come. I miss you friend. Look down upon us and laugh with us one more time.

Grandpa,
You always use to tell me that one day you would be gone, and that i would look back and say how lucky i was to have you guide me with your lectures. I have come to realize that you were right. I miss you so much and would give anything to have you sit me down, tell me another story, and teach me another lesson. You were always there for me, and we will always have the amazing memories we shared when i was growing up. I love you and will forever miss you grandpa.

Geri and family, our most sincere condolences to you at this difficult time. Our prayers and thoughts are with you. God's word says, "But those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles;they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint." (Isaiah 40:31). He is near to all who call on Him. Our prayer is that you will find that strength, with God, until you can be with Larry again.
