Marie Dyer Obituary

MARIE T. DYER
Marie Dyer, affectionately known by her friends and family as "Ted," passed away peacefully in Riverside, Ca. on June 4, 2018. Marie was born in Rapid City, South Dakota, Dec. 14, 1925, to Thomas and Rose Theodosis. She was the second oldest of six. She is survived by her sisters Rosemarie and Ruth. She was married for 53 years to husband David Robert (Bob) Dyer, who predeceased her in 2003. Ted raised 3 children; Ronda Dyer, Rory Dyer, and Rick Dyer (wife Debby) , and nephew Martin Theodosis. She has many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces, and grand nephews.
After graduating from Park College, Missouri, Ted married college sweetheart Rob on New Year's Day 1950. They moved out to Riverside where they both began teaching careers. Ted was a teacher for over 50 years with the Riverside Unified School District. Ted was an active member of Calvary Presbyterian Church for the entire time she lived in Riverside. She was a Girl Scout Leader for many years, receiving the Thanks Badge for outstanding Leadership from the San Gorgonio Girl Scout Council. She was also a long time member of the Riverside Community Players, active in American Association of University Women, and the Victoria Club. Ted was an avid bridge player and enjoyed not only playing but meeting new friends across the table.
Ted loved to travel. She spent many days with Rob and their close friends traveling across the country and around the world. Her world map is literally "stuck full" of pins for the places she had visited. She lived a full life, raised a family and always put helping others first.
Memorial Service will be held Sat, June 23rd, 11:00 AM, Calvary Presbyterian Church, Riverside. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Calvary Presbyterian Church, Riverside Community Players, or Mary S. Roberts Pet Adoption Center.

My condolences to Rory and Rick. Your mom meant a lot to me and empowered all of us in Girl Scouts for many years. When I reminisce about some of the amazing backpacking and mountain climbing we did I am often met with exclamations like , I wish my girl scouting days could have been even half as great ! She was such an adventurer and she taught us that we could learn all survival skills we wanted to and we actually did! I rely on And refer back to the vast lessons I learned under her leadership. And your sister Rhonda was a loyal friend to me growing up. I know her life was not easy but she kept going and was a model of perseverance in handling the challenges. Although our paths eventually diverged both your mom and sister and you too plus Rick have always been in my heart. Sending love t you Katie Kain

I am so sorry to hear about Ted and Ronda's passing. I was a student of Bob Dyer at Poly High School.
I was also a babysitter for Ronda and Rory and I enjoyed the times I spent with them.
Again, my sincere condolences.
