Matthew Zetz Obituary

MATTHEW "JIM" JAMES ZETZ III was born on August 27, 1951 and passed on to the Holy Gates of Heaven at the age of 62 on July 11, 2014. He was surrounded by his loving family until the very end of his nine month battle against Pancreatic Cancer. Jim was born and raised in Sacramento, California, where he attended Sacred Heart School and Jesuit High School, C/O 1970. He kept busy throughout his childhood playing baseball and football, both at Varsity levels while at Jesuit. After graduation he continued his education at San Diego State University while playing baseball for a league in Mexico. Jim later transferred to CAL Berkley where he majored in Economics. In his younger years Jim traveled throughout Europe. He was also an avid snow and water skier, enjoyed racing modified stock cars, flying a Piper Cherokee, and deep sea fishing on his family's 38ft Chris Craft. Jim became a General Contractor and for 36 years he worked out of the Bay Area, Lake Tahoe, and many other cities throughout the country. He was talented in his craft and produced amazing custom homes and structural buildings. Jim was the epitome of a hard, conscientious, self-made worker, constantly providing for his family and always making them proud. Camping, the kid's extracurricular activities, project building at home, and of course his beloved San Francisco Giants were his pride and joy. For the last 15 years, Jim has resided in Murrieta, California. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian Zetz and survived by his father, Matthew J Zetz II, his wife of 25 years, Grace Zetz, siblings, Mike, Michele, Melanie, Mary-Ann and Mark, along with Jim's children Jennifer Daniels, Matthew J Zetz IV, Samantha Zetz, Monica Stricklan, Rose Zetz, and Josephine Zetz as well as their spouses, grandchildren, and great grandchild. His family would greatly appreciate any donations in his honor in lieu of flowers to help create and continue awareness, and the research in early detection and cure for Pancreatic Cancer.
