Robert Felix Obituary

ROBERT "BOBBY" FELIX Was born in Riverside, CA on May 13, 1941 and entered Eternal Glory on December 5, 2010. Bobby lived in Corona, CA his entire 69 years. Bobby attended local schools and graduated from the old Corona High School in 1959. Growing up he was passionate about two things: music and sports, especially softball. He played the saxophone for Corona Junior and Corona Senior high, as well as high school basketball and baseball. One of his finest moments was performing with the marching band at the grand opening of Disneyland in July 18, 1955. Bobby also played on men\'s fast pitch softball traveling teams in the 1960\'s and 1970\'s, mostly with the "Chicanos." He passed his love of softball and music to his two daughters, whom he coached for many years. Bobby was employed as a professional umpire of girls and women\'s fast pitch softball for over 20 years. It was never a job to him, as he enjoyed it so much. In his later years, he could be fond watching local softball games and tournaments, always with a rulebook in his pocket, just in case. Bobby lived his life for his family, especially his grandchildren. He was a very proud Papa. He attended every band recital, awards ceremony, parade and play; always an hour early so he could get the best seat. Bobby was a big USC fan and was always wearing USC t-shirts, hats, etc. His family always knew what to get him for Christmas. Bobby also loved attending Centennial High School football games with his brother and nephews. Bobby had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. He loved going to church every Sunday and sitting in the exact same seat. He will be remembered by his church family as being friendly and giving great hugs. bobby loved sharing stories of his life with others and could easily become fast friends with anybody he met, from the grocery store clerk or gardener, to the front office staff at the doctor\'s office. We will forever miss his stories and jokes. Bobby is survived by his wife of 46 years, Rosie; his two daughters, Roberta (Raul) Moreno and Rhonda Crawford of Corona; his four grandchildren, Ivan Robert Crawford, Reina Elizabeth Crawford, Matthew Ryan Moreno and Mark Nicholas Moreno, all of Corona; his brother, Charlie Felix of Corona; his sisters, Linda Alvarez of Romoland, Patsy Anaya of Corona, and Georgia Felix, Sara Hernandez, Monica Ayala, all of Riverside. He also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Sadie Felix, his sister Gloria Sevier, and brothers Joe and Herbert. A Celebration of Bobby\'s life will be held on Friday, December 10, 2010 at 11:00am at New Beginnings Community Church, 1769 Western Avenue, Norco, CA 92860. Viewing will begin one hour prior to service at 10:00am at New Beginning Community Church. Burial will follow services in Crestlawn Memorial Park in Riverside, CA. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Bobby\'s memory to the Santiago High School Band Boosters or the Centennial High School Husky Players, to support local music and theater programs. My tio Bob was a wonderful man and funny as can be. Maybe not "ha ha" funny, but filled with a rapier wit. He was a very respectful man and always had an insightful word of advice to give without fail. I remember him taking me for car-rides when i was a small child and we would drive around here or there and he would introduce me to friends of his that worked at various stores or shops. They all cherished his friendship and it was clear to me even at that young age that people were very fond of him. I may not have been as close to him as my own older brothers were, as i am much younger than they, but i will always share a kinship with this wonderful man. Tio Bob, you will be forever loved and cherished as long as God gives me breath.... Keep a good seat saved for us next to the Father and say hi to my Dad for me! We will miss you and your famous "jar of chilis," but we are forever changed for having you in our lives... Your nephew...

I have had many happy times with Mr. Felix. His stories, jokes, love and acceptance will always be one of the high points of my life. So thankful I was able to spend some quality time with him on Berta's birthday. Thanks Raul for the invitation, you will never know how much that meant. My prayers are with the many people touched by his life. I know I was. Rest with the angels, in the peace of the Lord. You will be missed more than you could have known! Now you have the music of the choirs of angels in paradise, hope they can use a good sax player, or at least need someone to tell them how to DO IT RIGHT! Rest well , my friend!
