Robert Stark Obituary

ROBERT EUGENE STARK passed away June 29, 2015 surrounded by family and friends. He is survived by his son, Gary; daughter-in-law, Dana and three granddaughters, Caitlyn, Kelly and Shaylea as well as many other "sons" he mentored through the years. He was born in Bath, Ohio to Charles and Lois Stark on January 28, 1934. He now joins his wife, Mary Lou ("Shorty") who preceded him in death in October 2014. Early in their marriage, he was an aerospace engineer working on the lunar surveyor in Florida, then moved to California in the early 1960's. His father, Charles, was an Indian motorcycle dealer in Akron, Ohio and Bob followed in his footsteps as has his son, Gary. In the world of Indian Motorcycles, he became known as Mr. Indian, being a world-renowned, expert restorer and parts manufacturer. He was generous with his time and expertise, never turning away anyone wanting to hear about the history of Indian motorcycles, needing a helping hand or seeking advice. He built a museum that housed his extensive collection of beautifully restored Indian motorcycles, vintage cars, boats and bicycles and maintained a restoration and parts shop. His love of Indian motorcycles lead him on wonderful adventures around the world and into lives of many unique, loyal Indian enthusiasts who became lifetime friends. He was an avid member of the T-Bird Early Birds Club as well as several other clubs, restoring several classic T-Birds, driving them around the country and loaning them out for homecomings, weddings, and parades. He built and flew model airplanes from the time he was a child and had an amazing collection. He was a loyal patriot and generous to people from all walks of life, always seeing the best in people. He loved his dogs and took in many strays over the years that became loyal companions to him. He will be interred at Forest Lawn, Cypress, Friday, July 3rd. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to I.C.A.R.E. Dog Rescue in Bob's name through PayPal www.icaredogrescue.org, or given to family at the reception.
