Ted Lloyd Obituary

Theodore Jeffrey Lloyd was born October 26, 1958, to Milton Noel Lloyd and Peggy Randolph Lloyd in Honolulu, HI, where his father served in the U.S. Navy. On December 15, 2020, Ted saw the face of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in heaven. Ted enjoyed growing up in Hemet and pursued his love for tennis giving his first lesson when he was around sixteen. Through the years, Ted taught hundreds of students to love tennis as much as he did. His other loves were family, friends, teaching adult Sunday School at Bible Fellowship Church, men's Bible study, fishing, gold prospecting, metal detecting, and the Hemet Valley Antique Bottle and Collectibles Club. Ted is survived by his wife Rochelle VerHoeven Lloyd, two daughters Amanda and Melissa, father Noel Lloyd, and his sister Linda McKenzie and brother-in-law Jim. A celebration of Ted's life will be held Saturday, January 2, 2021, 1:00 pm at Cornerstone Church, 26089 Girard Street, Hemet.

Welcome to Heaven Ted!
I thought you as a gentle giantyou had more power on you ground strokes than anyone I’ve ever played with. And yet, whenever you would have a chance to hit a macho 100 mph winner, you would invariably choose to hit a 15 mph finesse shot that was just out of my reach. I see this as a reflection of your humblenessyou did not go through life with a sledgehammer. You instead, genuinely wanted to bring out the best in others, whether it was your students on the court or fellow humans.

Even though your body is gone, your spirit will live forever though all of us that crossed your paths.

PS: I will not miss your slow screwy side-back-spin serve that hit the court and didn’t bounce.

Another tennis friend here, Rochelle. I always enjoyed playing against Ted but I never enjoyed trying to return his flat serve when he got it in! I gave him some of my students when I went to Sacramento for a year and knew I left them in good hands. He was truly a good guy. Life just is not fair. I'm so sorry he had to leave you so soon.

Hi Rochelle: Just another tennis friend here. Always enjoyed the times I got to play against Ted. Hated his flat serve when he got it in! Even gave him some of my tennis students when I moved to Sacramento for a year. So sorry he is gone too soon. My prayers and loving support go to you and your family. I'm sorry I won't be there tomorrow but I can't do any groups inside right now. Be safe and well.

I met Amanda through church when I was 14. We had just moved to Southern California for the first time and we had been looking for a home church. My mom said that Ted and Rochelle were the first two people to come up to her after the service and say Hello. I met Amanda attending The Highschool Youth Group. From that day onward there were plenty of weekends I and my cousin Melissa spent over at the Lloyd home. They were all very warm, friendly and kind to us. I never had a father growing up and Mr. Lloyd was a shining example of what a great Christian Father should be. I was always a bit envious of Amanda for having what I never did. But I know now Jesus is our Heavenly Father. I'm now envious of Mr. Lloyd for getting the most wonderous gift of all. To be with Jesus, to know all the answers and to get to speak and commune with God on a personal level. I could never say enough praise for Mr. Lloyd and his family. I am so sorry for his families loss. I know it isn't easy for those of us that are left behind, but luckily for us we will get to see him again. My Hope's and prayers go out to Rochelle, Amanda and Missy. I know you all miss your Husband and Father. I know you all know you will meet again.
