Anna Merendino Obituary

Anna Jynette (nee Bonasto) Merendino

March 17, 1920 - August 17, 2024

of Atlantic City, passed away peacefully on August 17, 2024 at the age of 104 after a brief illness. Anna was born on March 17, 1920 in Hammonton, where she was raised with her two brothers, John and Peter, by her parents Kathryn and Anthony (Nien). She attended Hammonton HS and in her teen years worked side-by-side with her mother as a seamstress. In her early twenties, she and her friends rarely missed a chance to go to the dances, including the Buena Dance Hall. That was where she met her perfect match, Charlie. Charlie was from Atlantic City, and a few years after they met, they married and began their wonderful lives there. They raised their children in the Catholic faith and were proud of their grandchildren following the same. Anna is survived by her daughters Patricia McGinniss (Daniel) and Annette Schenkel (Walt); four grandchildren Daniel McGinniss, Stephanie Roesener, Lauren Melleby, and Cari Flaherty; four great-granddaughters; and a great-grandson. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP), 3401 Civic Center Blvd, Philadelphia, PA 19104.

A viewing will be held on Friday, August 23rd at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, Maple & Wabash Avenues, Linwood, from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12 p.m. Interment will be held at Atlantic City Cemetery, Pleasantville.
