Clement W. Cornell

Cornell, Clement W., - 73, of Egg Harbor Twp., NJ, Clement W. Cornell entered into rest on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, surrounded by his loving family. Born in Philadelphia, PA he was the loving son of the late Clement F. and Dora (Smith) Cornell. He was the devoted husband of the late Eileen (Fleischman) Cornell, who passed on December 20, 2002. Clement was a graduate of Thomas Edison High School in Philadelphia, PA and then went on to Temple University for general studies. After meeting, Eileen, the love of his life in 1970 and getting married, Clem moved from Philadelphia to Somers Point, NJ. He began studying music through a correspondence course at the famed Berklee College in Boston, while working at a record shop in the Shore Mall. Clem eventually began a lifetime career as a skilled carpenter to provide for his family. Although he continued his education studying accounting in the early 90's at Atlantic Cape Community College becoming a Real Estate agent for a time, Clem always kept working as a carpenter, constructing and fixing up many homes in the area. He also had two different stints working at The Press of Atlantic City in the 90's and again in the late 2000's into the early 2010's. Outside of family and friends, Clem's greatest passion was music, playing bass in many local bands in the Philadelphia area and all over New Jersey. He played live music for decades from the 60's into the early 2000's. Clem was an avid concert goer and a huge patron of the arts supporting WRTI in Philadelphia and was a member and champion of the South Jersey Jazz Society. Clement will be missed and fondly remembered by his son; Jeffrey, his daughter-in-law and two grandchildren, his sister; Dot (Frank) Medvedik a host of nieces and nephews and many, many friends. In addition to his parents and wife, he was predeceased by his sister; Betty (Bill) Deni and sister-in-law; Jaqueline Fleischman. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Clement's Life Celebration Memorial Service on Saturday March 25, 2023, at 11:00am at Jeffries and Keates Funeral Home, 228 Infield Ave., Northfield, NJ 08225. A visitation will be held at Jeffries and Keates from 10:00am until time of service. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Atlantic County SPCA P.O.
