CONSTANCE GRUNDLOCK Obituary

GRUNDLOCK, CONSTANCE 97 - of Ocean City died peacefully on January 25, 2013. Born June 26, 1915 in New York and raised on Baldwin, Long Island, Connie moved to South Jersey in the mid 1940's and lived in Margate for over sixty years. An avid reader, crossword puzzle enthusiast and bridge player, Connie especially enjoyed writing as a hobby. She loved life -¬her family, friends, and of course her beloved dogs and cats. A loyal Philadelphia Phillies fan, Connie delighted in playing the slots and her legendary 5 o'clock cocktail. Before entering the final season of her long life, Connie wrote the following poem which now brings us great comfort and peace. Is That A snowflake? The seasons of my life are painted like an abstract on the canvas of my mind. The broad lush strokes of summer, the clean crisp lines of autumn not yet the winds of winter. In this, the pause between seasons I watch the leaves turn and my thoughts turn inward vulnerable to the past. I reminisce - think backwards yesterday more vivid than today tender to the touch. My pool of memories reflect the passing seasons, and I search its depth for truth and wisdom, that I may face the winter unafraid. Facing her winter unafraid, we are comforted in the knowledge that Connie lived up to her expectations. Connie is predeceased by her husband, Russell, and her son, Michael C. Wright. She is survived by her daughter, Connie Martindale (Robert); her granddaughters Lori Goudie, Connie Wright (Ken); daughter-in-law; Vivian; grand-son Bill Wright (Erica); great-grandchildren, Amanda, Conor, Chloe, Megan and Miranda. The family would like to thank the staff of The Shores at Wesley Manor for their kind and loving care. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Constance's Life Celebration and Memorial Service on Thursday January 31,2013 at 11am at the Jeffries and Keates Funeral Home, Tilton Road and Infield Ave Northfield. Memorial contributions may be made to the Humane Society of Atlantic County, 1401 Absecon Blvd., Atlantic City, New Jersey.
