David Katz Obituary



KATZ, DAVID, B., 90 - of Ventnor City, passed away September 27, 2008 after a brief illness. He was surrounded by family and loved ones. He was a devoted husband, father, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. Born in Philadelphia and raised in Maple Shade, Dave was a graduate of Moorestown High School and Lynchburg College in Virginia where he lettered in baseball, basketball and track. Dave served in the U.S. Army during World War II in a mortar company in the European Theater. After the war, Dave moved to South Jersey where he worked as a liquor salesman for J&J Distributors before retiring in 1982. He was preceded in death by his father and mother (Benjamin and Sarah Katz); his sister (Mildred Tannenbaum) and first wife Ruth (Tochinsky) Katz. He is survived by wife Barbara Katz, Ventnor City; son and his wife Ted and Louise Katz of Gahanna, Ohio; son and his wife Brett and Sherry Katz of Margate; grandchildren Ben, Roger and Brittany Katz; step-grandchildren Stephanie and Melissa Jacks and great-grandchild Tyler Katz. A special heartfelt thanks to his caregivers at the Holy Redeemer Hospice and his special care giver, Jackie Menth and the Ventnor City Fire Department. A private graveside ceremony was held September 29, 2008 at Rodef Shalom Cemetery Donations may be made in his name to Holy Redeemer Hospice and the Ventnor City Fire Department, House Fund. Arrangements by the Roth-Goldsteins' Memorial Chapel of Atlantic City, New Jersey.
