Earl Axelson Obituary

Earl Frank Axelson

December 28, 1938 - May 13, 2025

Earl Frank Axelson, 86, of Ocean City, NJ, passed away suddenly on May 13, 2025. Born on December 28, 1938, in Philadelphia, PA, to Earl Norman and Dorothy Axelson (Frazier), Earl lived a remarkable life defined by his dedication to family, a distinguished career, and a love for adventure that took him across the globe.

Raised in Philadelphia, Earl built a life rooted in Southern New Jersey, where he raised his family, and later embraced the experience of living in Brussels, Belgium. Earl held HR Executive roles at Smith Kline, Seagrams, and Burdette Tomlin Hospital. Upon retirement from the corporate world, Earl embarked on a real estate career which spanned over 20 plus years in Ocean City. He volunteered his time through the Atlantic County Workforce Development Board for numerous years. Everything he did both professionally and personally, he was well known and respected by his many peers.

His greatest joy was his family. Whether sharing stories with his grandchildren to celebrating milestones with his great-grandchildren, Earl was fiercely loyal to his family and those he loved. Earl cherished his Ocean City home, where he enjoyed daily walks with his ever-loving dog Jack. Earl's legacy of family, love and kindness will endure.

Earl is survived by his children, Dan (Corey) of Cohasset, MA, Drew (Susan) of Summerville, SC, and Eric (Lynn) of Haddon Heights, NJ; as well as eight beloved grandchildren and four cherished great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister, Dottie Hatton of Somers Point, NJ. Earl was predeceased by his parents, Earl Norman and Dorothy Axelson; and siblings, Lynn Connolly, Ronald Axelson, Guy Axelson and former wife, Alyce Seaman.

Visitation will be held at St Frances Cabrini Church located at Second Street and Atlantic Avenue, Ocean City, NJ, on May 23, at 9:30 a.m., with Mass to follow at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at 12 p.m. at Resurrection Cemetery, Kings Highway, Clermont, NJ. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to a local Ocean City charity of your choice.

Earl's love for his family, his Ocean City community, and the connections he forged across continents will live on. He will be deeply missed and forever cherished.
