Elder Guy Arthur Davis

Elder Davis Obituary

DAVIS, ELDER GUY ARTHUR - of Philadelphia, PA, went home to be with the Lord March 24, 2008, at his home. Elder Davis was the son of Arthur Toadvin and Juanita Maria Rhone. He was educated in the Philadelphia Public School system and graduated from Southern High School's Class of 1969. Elder Davis was called by God to be the Assistant Pastor of Oliver's Temple Church of God in Christ in Pleasantville. When he was not preaching God's word, he was known for his melodious singing voice and could be heard singing with John Howard's Gospel Caravan. He also lived his favorite scripture - "A merry heart doeth good like a medicine, " - always good for a practical joke or two. He leaves to cherish fond memories: his wife, Azorlee Hartman Davis; his sister, Norma Saunders; and his brother, Ostelle Davis, all of South Philadelphia ; and a host of other loving relatives and dear friends. A viewing will be held Monday, March 31, 2008, from 5PM until 7PM at Victory First Presbyterian Church, Pennsylvania & Pacific Avenues, Atlantic City , where a Musical Tribute will begin at 7PM. Additional viewing will be held from 5PM until 7PM on Tuesday, April 1, 2008 at the church, where services will be held at 7PM. Interment will be at 10AM on Wednesday, April 2, 2008, in Mt. Moriah Cemetery , Philadelphia . Arrangements entrusted to Greenidge Funeral Home.

Guy, my uncle, was the most loving uncle one could have. I learned what unconditional love was by they way that he loved me. Uncle Guy, I have given my life over to Christ. This is what he always encouraged me to do. My love for you is forever. Roni.

Guy was a great vocalist, preacher and friend! Even though handicapped he never let it get in the way of his ministry! I really miss talking with him and visiting with him to take him to run his errands. He is dearly missed but not forgotten!

I moved to NC yet still kept in touch with my Brother and made it up to visit with him a couple of times. He was blessed with an annoited voice and a joyful spirit. Sleep on Brother Guy. We pray to see you in the by and by. Love, Eld. T. Steward

Dear beloved Davis family,
I am so sorry for the loss of your dear loved one. Losing someone close to your heart leaves you with tears and memories. Remember though, to "continue to be comforted...and the God of love and peace will be with you."(2Corinthians 13:11)

In My Pocket

I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.

My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.

They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.

Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.

But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.
