Elmer C. Widerstrom

WIDERSTROM, ELMER C. 54 - of North Cape May, passed away on Wednesday, December 24th, 2008 with his daughters by his side at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Camden, NJ. He was a lifelong resident of Cape May County and a graduate of Lower Cape Regional High School. Born into a family of commercial fishermen, he was the youngest clamboat captain at 17 years of age at Snow's Doxee. He was a proud commercial fishing captain all of his life and loved the ocean. He was a member of St. John of God parish and active in the Cape May Jazz Festival. He will be remembered for providing help and support to families of fishermen lost at sea. He will be sadly missed and always remembered by his loving family and many dear friends. He is survived by his three daughters, Mary Millard and her husband Michael, Carolyn Widerstrom and her fiance Michael Lazaro and Elaine Widerstrom; one grandson, Michael Henry Millard; his fiancee Geraldine Doughtridge; one sister, Kathleen Dobbins and her husband, Jack; one nephew, two nieces; and his beloved dogs Tootsie and Buster. He was preceded in death by his mother, Agnes (Cannon) Widerstrom and his father, Elmer J. Widerstrom. A memorial service will be held on Monday, January 5, 2009, 11:00 a.m. at the Evoy Funeral Home, 3218 Bayshore Rd., N.
