Emanuel Scott Obituary

Scott, Jr., Emanuel, - 83, of Atlantic City, departed this earthly life Saturday, April 8, 2023. He was born in Needwood, Ga. on March 9, 1940, and he was the firstborn of 10 children to Annie (nee' Carter) and Emanuel Scott. He later came to live in Atlantic City, N.J. where he attended the Atlantic City public schools. After graduating from high school, he enlisted and served honorably in the United States Army.

Emanuel (also known as "Junior" or "Scott") worked for several local businesses in and around Atlantic City until he secured a position as a boiler room operator at the B.L. England Generating Station in Beesley's Point, N.J. where he worked for 26 years. Throughout his life, Emanuel attended various churches and was a member of civic organizations in the area including the Atlantic City Chapter of the NAACP. When he wasn't working or helping his neighbors, he was squarely focused on his family and friends. He worked tirelessly throughout the years to support his loved ones and make opportunities for his children and the younger members of his family. Emanuel genuinely had a servant's heart and it showed in the way that he cared for people. Often giving freely of his time and resources but never expecting anything in return.

Emanuel is survived by: his wife and partner of 55 years, Ruth (nee' Spivey) Scott; his children, Yvette, Michael, Susan (husband Marc) and Cynthia; siblings, Thomas, Betty, Frank, Barbara, Sidney and Brenda; 13 grandchildren and many great grandchildren; and other friends and family too numerous to list, but loved nonetheless. Emanuel is predeceased by: his parents; daughter, Erma; and siblings Michael, Robert and Kenny.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Saturday, April 15, 2023, Sanctuary of Praise Tabernacle, 1311 South Main Street. Pleasantville, NJ, visitation from 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Pleasantville, N.J.
