EMETERIO BERMUDEZ Obituary
BERMUDEZ, EMETERIO "TELLITO" - loving father, husband, grandfather, brother and friend went to be with the Lord on September 27, 2010, at South Jersey Regional Medical Center, surrounded by his family. Mr. Bermudez was born in Utuado, Puerto Rico, on March 1, 1928. He is the son of Eladio Bermudez and Juano Lugo, both from Utuado, Puerto Rico. He moved to Vineland in 1951. In his early years Mr. Bermudez worked at Stern's Hatchery, Friedman's Bakery and as a Janitor at the Isaac Schwartzman building on Wood St, Mr. Schwartzman encouraged him to start his own Janitorial business, and Mr. Bermudez successfully owned and operated Bermudez Janitorial Service and The Good Flavor "Helado" truck for over ten years. He was a founding member of the First Pentecostal Church M.I. Vida de Fe. Mr. Bermudez enjoyed playing cuatro, guitar, singing his original songs, gardening, baking (especially budin), and making Mavi. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Norma Iris, also of Utuado, Puerto Rico; four daughters, Elizabeth Cruz married to Eliezer; Miriam Snyder married to Michael; Judy Bermudez, all of Vineland, and Ruth Stevens married to William of West Virginia; seven sons, Dennis married to Julia; Zeke married to Norma; Emeterio Jr. married to Migdalia; Ishmael married to Blanca; Obed married to Marilyn; Elias; Joel all of Vineland; and a Foster son, David Vazquez; twenty-seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren and seven brothers and sisters. Church visitations will be held Friday, October 1, 2010 from 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm with evening services beginning at 7:30; final visitation will end at 9:00 pm. A church visitation will be held again on Saturday from 9:00 to 10:00 am with services beginning at 10:00 am at First Pentecostal Church M.I. Vida de Fe, 1115 South Main Road in Vineland. Interment will follow in Siloam Cemetery 550 N. Valley Ave., Vineland. ARRANGEMENTS are under the supervision of Rone Funeral Service, 1110 East Chestnut Avenue, Vineland, NJ 08360. Normita & family: Tellito was a man of beauty, peace, love, happiness, musical talent but, most importantly, a man of great Faith in God. It is because of that Faith that he understood and dedicated himself to God's most important commandment, Love Thy Neighbor...loving his family, friends, neighbors and strangers. He was a man of honor, sacrifice and commitment to God's commands...instilling the importance of belief and faith in God to everyone, specifically his family. It is evident in the love you have displayed and shared with those around you and in the beauty of your children. I may be far, but my heart, thoughts & memories are always of and with you all.

Tio Tello, you will be dearly missed, thank you and Tia for always opening your home to me and my brother David and sister Rosalind.The many memories of when we were young are with you and all our aunt and uncles, often Dad would bring us to visit every time we came to vineland, Dad always made it a point to vist with you all. Tio tello meant a lot to me because my dad and tio looked so much alike. I know what the family is going through I lost my sister just 3 months ago and am still struggling with this. Tello's family i would just like to express that God will see you through this so put your trust in him and in him only. Tia my deepest sympathys go out to you. We the Muñoz family, Pilar & Benny would like to express our deepest condolences to all the Bermudez family. Teyito Bermudez has accomplished what all faithful Christians want to accomplish. He was not only a faithful Christian he lived to all the expectations that God requires for all of those that want to cross the n...arrow road to heaven. God has called him to rest and not only rest, He has his name written in the book of eternal life. I met Teyito back in 1964 when our family moved to Vineland form Brooklyn NY. He was like my own father. My biological father, Victor Muñoz wanted the best for us and also to give us a better life and take us away from the city life. For this reason he decided to move to all of us to Vineland. I thank him for his decision and it not had been for it we would have never met the Bermudez family especially Teyito. As all faithful Christians our goal is on that special day see our loved ones again.

"Bermudez Family." Dennis, I met a couple of your family members in the hospital while my dear mother was getting major surgery done. Your father was getting a procedure done. We spent hours chit chatting. It was a pleasure meeting your family and mother. My deepest regrets about your father. You know, you all hit the lottery because having a family like you do is a GIFT. A GIFT FROM THE LORD.
I wanted to know how your father was doing. Sadly, I didn't have your number and I was by my mother side while she was in the hospital and having minimal time to go anywhere.
The Lord permitted me to go to the WaWa on Sherman Ave. and I found Eliud. He told me the news. I am so sorry. Your father would want all of you to carry his legacy. God Bless.

My dear Tia Iris and cousins: Please know that you are all in our prayers. As I recall Tio's visit to us in Florida, I remember Tio's reaction to “The Skyway Bridge” in St. Petersburg. He said “oh my dear daughter if I was driving I would turn back and find another way to get across other than that bridge” he clenched his hands onto the seat of the car and held on for dear life and thanked God that we made it over to the other side of that bridge. He was a very special uncle and shared his love with Eddie, Elliott & I, and we will always cherish the memories in Vineland, Puerto Rico and here in Florida. I will miss going home to visit with him and getting some of his wonderful “budin”. We love you all dearly, Pepsi & Elliott Serrano
