Miles, Ernest "Ernie" R., - 91, of Newfield, Ernest R. "Ernie" Miles, 91, of Newfield, NJ, passed away early Saturday morning, August 5, 2023 at the Inspira Medical Center, Vineland, NJ. Ernie was born & raised in Franklin Twp. and was a lifelong area resident. He was the son of the late Robert T. & Irene (Gillespie) Miles. He was preceded in death by his wife of 67 yrs, Eleanor E. (Evangelista) Miles as well as his brother Richard & sisters Fran J. Satero & Claire M. Durham & son in-law William DeCicco.
Ernie was a graduate of Clayton High School Class of 1951. Before retiring, Ernie along with his late wife, Owned & Operated Miles Construction & Concrete Co. in Newfield, which is still family owned & operated today. He was a U.S. Army veteran during the Korean war and was stationed in Neveda during testing for the atomic bomb. Ernie enjoyed sports especially NASCAR racing as well as local dirt track racing where he sponsored several local racers over the years. He also sponsored the North East Spartans midget football team in Vineland. He enjoyed taking care of and maintaining his yard & property.
He is survived by his three children; Sherry (Dominick) Pustizzi, Ernest (Peggy) Miles Jr. & Kimberly DeCicco. six grandchildren; Megan, Jason (Andrea) & Shawn Pustizzi, Ernie III (Sarah), Melissa & Kevin (Cassie) Miles and one Great Grandson; Jason Miles Pustizzi, Jr., two sisters; Doris J. Ardito & Betty Lou Limanni, as well as several nieces & nephews.
Relatives & friends will be received on Thursday, August 10th, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Pancoast Funeral Home, 676 S. Main Road, Vineland, NJ where his funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Burial will be in the Siloam Cemetery, Vineland, NJ.
