F. TAYLOR Obituary

TAYLOR, F. NAOMI (NEE DOUGLASS) - of Pleasantville, passed away on November 12, 2009 at Shore Memorial Hospital in Somers Point. Born January 8, 1919 to Percy H. and Jessie (Kelsey) Douglass, Mrs. Taylor attended Haddon Heights High School, attended New York School of Design and married Howard F. W. Taylor on June 22, 1942. Mrs. Taylor was the senior principal of two family-owned businesses, Douglass Industries in Egg Harbor City and Absecon Mills in Cologne New Jersey. Founded with her husband, Howard (who predeceased her in 1991), the Taylor family grew the business into an internationally recognized design leader, manufacturer and distributor of textiles and Howard and Naomi Taylor were named Mainlanders of the Year in 1989. Mrs. Taylor remained active in business until her recent hospitalization and was a driving inspiration to all who knew her and worked with her. Naomi was an active member of the Good Shepherd United Methodist Church in Northfield, and spent many years raising her beautiful voice in praise and worship in various local choirs, including the Orpheus Choral Group. She was a talented pianist and music lover who used her gifts to bring joy to others as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the South Jersey Regional Theater. Among her community activities were the Charity League and Crescent Club. She was on the board of the AtlantiCare Foundation, served as Chairperson for the Atlantic County Advisory Commission on Women, was a member of the National Republican Congressional Committee Business Advisory Council, the Zonta Club, was Atlantic County's Business Woman of the Year in 2001 and was inducted into the Atlantic County Women's Hall of Fame in 2002. Well-loved by all who knew her, Mrs. Taylor was an inspiration to her family, friends, community and employees. Many will remember the annual Easter Egg Hunts, Church picnics, Thanksgiving dinners and socials she hosted in her home in Pleasantville. Generous of spirit, she was always prepared to lend a helping hand to those in need. Mrs. Taylor is survived by two sons; Douglass A. and wife, Jane, of Egg Harbor Township, and Randolph S. and wife, Linda, of Galloway Township, her sister, Mary Tibbetts of Blackwood, four grandchildren, Megan Taylor and husband, Adam Michel, of Northfield, Ethan Taylor and wife, Megan, of Northfield, Amy Rose Rickli and husband, Brian of New City, NY, Christopher H. Taylor and wife, Rachel, of Washington, DC and six great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her loving sister-in-law, Ethel Kelsey, of Grenlock and an extended family of 150 employees, who will miss her dearly. A visitation will take place Monday evening from 5:00 PM. - 9:00 PM. at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home at 1650 New Road, Northfield NJ 08225. Services will be held Tuesday morning at St. Peter's United Methodist Church, Eighth Street and Central Avenue in Ocean City at 11:00 AM. Visitation at the church will be from 10:00AM to 11:00AM. Entombment will then follow at Laurel Memorial Park in Pomona. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Charity League, 100 East Ridgewood Avenue, Absecon, NJ 08201. Charity League supports eleven separate charities in the Southern New Jersey area, including Child Federation. Mrs. Taylor was actively involved in both of these organizations. Contributions may also be made to Good Shepherd United Methodist Church, 207 Northfield Avenue, Northfield, NJ 08225

Doug, Randy and family,

How do I start in saying how deeply saddened I am..My heartfelt sympathy goes ot to the entire Taylor family.

I will always remember you Mrs "T", and remember you not only as being your secretary, but as being your friend.

Memories of you will stay with me forever. Even though I moved away how you would find time to call me every so often just to chat and make sure I was happy, and always gave me an open invitation to stay with you when I came back to Jersey for a visit.

The fun we had at your Christmas wrapping parties at your house, the plays at So. Jersey Regional Theatre,
The editing and re-typing of "Annie Get your Gun"- (your play on the West Coast). The working after hours on the "Carteco" acct, and then going out to dinner.

You said I could have been your daughter cause we both loved soo many shoes and earrings, but you were the only person I ever knew who had a pair of Green Frog Rain Boots!

For your patience and caring ways you gave to my son-hiring him to paint your fence blue, even though you knew he would take all summer to get the job done.. I thank you.

You will hold a place in my heart forever, and I'm glad you were part of my life.

I'll miss you.

Naomi ( Mrs. T.)you will always hold as special a place in my heart as did Howard (Mr. T.) The world is a much sadder place without people like you in it.
