Kent Bankson Obituary
Kent Herbert Bankson, 80, of Lincoln, Neb., passed away peacefully on September 16, 2025, at Bryan Medical Center East after a short but courageous fight with cancer.
A celebration of Kent's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. on September 27 at Fridhem Lutheran Church in Hordville. The service will be live streamed on Solt-Wagner Funeral Home Facebook page. Burial will follow at Fridhem Lutheran Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Fridhem Lutheran Church. Condolences may be sent to the family at www.soltwagnerfuneral.com.
Kent was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Doris Bankson; and his son, Scott Bankson. He is survived by his devoted wife and best friend, Sara; his son, Allen (Penne) Bankson of Gretna; his brother, Doyle (Rita) Bankson of Hastings; his sisters, Allerita (Jim) Gerloff of Ayr and Karol Bankson of Marquette; and many nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends who will miss him dearly.

I met Kent while we were involved with Boy Scouting. I enjoyed seeing him at Nebr football games. A very pleasant and knowledgeable in our scouting years.

Kent was a wonderful person with such a positive, energetic approach to life. I had the pleasure of becoming close to he and Sara at the senior centers at Malone Community Center and Belmont Rec Center in Lincoln. We had so much fun, as well as many good times together. He was also our dedicated Bingo caller and we welcomed his strong, umpire voice calling out those numbers. I am grateful for having an opportunity to be part of his life, as well as Sara's.

I remember Kent as a larger than life kind of guy, he was kind and outgoing. The world is a better place for having had Kent in it! Rest in Peace Boom Boom. Even though we didn't cross paths much after you left the Hordville area, I will always remember your zest for life, easy smile, and always a laugh, a family trait that continues to live on in your siblings.
