FRANCES MANNS Obituary

MANNS, FRANCES 77 - passed away Tuesday, December 20th following several months of a courageous battle against cancer. Born in Atlantic City on July 11, 1934, Frances was the daughter of John Henry and Bessie Scott. She graduated from Atlantic City High School with the Class of 1952. She worked for Bell Telephone Company in Atlantic City for 37 years, retiring with a stellar record as a manager in 1989. Family life was very important to her: especially her children and grandchildren. She loved to read, sing, dance, travel, attend plays, and cook. Frances was involved in many groups, including Gem Sorority at ACHS, Concerned Parents, the Seniors Exercise Group, the Golden Circle, the Birthday Group, and Pages Too Book Club. She was an active member of St. Augustine's Episcopal Church and was involved in the founding of the John Brooks Recovery Center. Frances is survived by three sons and two daughters: Michael S. Manns, Wayne A. Manns, Sheldon A. Manns (Taria), Paula A. Manns, and Frannette L. Bourne (Rodman). One brother and four sisters also survive: John "Junior" Scott (Delores), Johnnie Mae Rustin, Bessie Banfield (Chuck), Odessa Brooks (Robert), and Mabel Canty (George). Frances is also survived by two sisters-in-law, Mary Ward and Elaine Scott, eight grandchildren, ten nephews, twelve nieces, countless friends and extended family. Frances was preceded in death by her parents; her former husband, Samuel A. Manns; two brothers: Jack King and James Scott; one sister, Joan Scott; three nephews and two nieces. Friends will be welcomed to celebrate Frances' life at a Memorial Service at St. Augustine's Episcopal Church, located at 1709 Arctic Avenue, Atlantic City, N.J. at 10:00 A.M. on Tuesday, December 27. Following the Memorial Service, Frances will be interred at the Greenwood Cemetery in Pleasantville, N.J. A repast for Frances will be held at the Soldier's Home All Wars Memorial Building at 1:00 p.m. the same day. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorial gifts may be given in Frances's memory to the St. Augustine's Episcopal Sunday School.

I am crying as I write! FRANCES MANNS,once my mother in law, always my mother in law!
I had the blessing of being able to tell Frances I loved her as her earthly body was giving out and her heavenly body was being prepared. what a gift for me! Thank you,Wayne!
Frances was and still is a beautiful child of God and a true woman of integrity!
Even though through different paths we did not regularly keep in contact,I can never forget her and the Manns family flying from New Jersey to California for the wedding of her son Wayne and I.It was an exciting and tumultuous time, yet she held sway over all! What a lady!
Frances, may God keep you in His care until I get there! We then can continue our relationship, the only one that matters, our relationship with our Most Holy God! You knew that!
I pray that your family has Peace knowing that you are with Him and are suffering no longer. It is really hard when Mother is gone! I will continue to pray your strength in the Lord!
Shalom Frances,I love you! Brice
