James Hogan Obituary

James C. Hogan

James C. Hogan, age 72, from Atlantic City, NJ, passed away on March 10, 2025, after a lengthy battle from Lewy Body Dementia. Born February 15, 1953, in Atlantic City, Jim graduated from Holy Spirit High School and worked numerous years bartending in the AC Casinos before his retirement. Jim was a golf fanatic, a Grateful Dead enthusiast and a world-class friend and storyteller. He was affectionately dubbed "the best retired person we ever knew". His wit, big laugh, and even bigger heart made him the life of every party and a friend for life. Jim was a devoted husband to his wife, Donna, of 32 years. He was a wonderful dad to his two children Jess and Joe; and Pop-Pop to his three grandchildren, Emilia, Dax and Benjamin. Jim was preceded in death by his father, James Hogan, Sr. and his mother, Diana Benedetti Hogan; and survived by his brother, sister; numerous nieces, nephews; and cousins. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew him. Please share a picture or a memory on Jim's tribute page at https://www.online-tribute.com/JimmyHogan. A viewing will take place on Tuesday, March 18th from 11 am to 12 pm, followed by Mass at 12 pm, at St. Michael's Church, Atlantic City. Burial will be private. Condolences may be extended to the family at ghwimberg.com.

Just learned of Jimmie´s passing.
I was just at a Phillies preseason game, where they we selling Dip N Dots, immediately Jim came to mind. I have many memories with Jim, Grateful Dead Concerts in the 70´s, many Laughs on the Golf Course, hanging with the Margate gang & crashing the high roller lounge when Jim was bartending. Rest in Pease Buddy.

my first road trip with Jim was the 1997 afc championship game with his co-worker Steve to see Pittsburgh vs Denver at Three Rivers to see the Steelers lose ,it was ,as we called it the Clarke bar game ,inside joke ,the next trip was the 1999 super bowl ,Atlanta vs Denver ,the seat cushion caper another inside joke ,those two times are what I will remember Jim as a fun person who lived his life ,enjoyed his life ,and was always a giver to anything he was asked to do for charity,he was a stand-up guy to me ,to the Hogan family I am very sorry for your loss ,RIP ,Jim

My condolences to the family. Jimmy and I were partners in the Bartenders Golf League in the nineties, the only time we won it. He was a pleasure in every way.
