James Krouse Obituary

Krouse, James R., - 87, of Ventnor, With heavy hearts, we share the passing of James (Jim) Richard Krouse, C.P.A., of Ventnor, NJ. Jim died peacefully on December 7, 2022 in Bonita Springs, FL surrounded by his loving wife, Peggy Krouse, and his adoring children. Jim was born and raised in Atlantic City to Mary and Walter Krouse Sr. on October 9, 1935. He attended Atlantic City High School ('53) and graduated Sum Laude ('57) from Temple University with a B.S. in Business and Accounting. He married Marguerite (Peggy) Powers in August of 1960. As a seasoned Certified Public Accountant, he launched his long career at Peat Marwick Mitchell in Philadelphia and moved onto local accounting firm Bradway, Capaldi, & Schelick of Atlantic City. Jim later brought his skills to Ocean City Bank of NJ and eventually retired from the profession as Comptroller at Dee Lumber Company. Jim shared his accounting talents with several clients in the Ventnor area, preparing their annual personal taxes. As a servant of the community, Jim was a long-time member of the Boy Scouts of America, and Term President for both the Ventnor Board of Education and Dollars for Scholars, as he deeply believed in the power of education to elevate the lives of local youth. When Jim wasn't mastering tax codes or championing education, he enjoyed skiing and traveling. He spent countless hours fishing the Ventnor pier, tallying and cataloging his frequent catches, and gaining legendary status for his prized striped bass. After decades at the shore, Jim and Peggy retired to Bonita Springs, FL, where Jim was celebrated in his new community as a formidable player of Mexican Trains and and ace of the local fishing creeks. Jim leaves behind his wife of 62 years, Peggy Krouse, son and daughter-in-law James David Krouse and Dr. Anne Krouse, daughters and sons-in-law Maribeth and Bernard Richerme, Linda Powers and Roy Katz, and Ilda and Christian Jacobsen. He will be deeply missed by his grandchildren Melissa Krouse and Tim Tonkinson, Nicolas Richerme, Emily Richerme, Michael and Olivia Krouse, Thibaut Richerme, Freyja Jacobsen, and Delling Jacobsen, and great-grandson, Jackson Krouse, along with countless friends and neighbors. He is also survived by his brother, Walter D. Krouse, Jr. and his loving nieces and nephews. The immediate family will hold an intimate celebration of life luncheon for Jim near his Florida home. Friends and loved ones who wish to make a donation in his memory may consider a contribution to the kind staff and volunteers at Joanne's House at Hope Hospice at 27200 Imperial Pkwy, Bonita Springs, FL 34135.

IM Sorry to hear Mr. Jim Krouse died. I saw him a few years back with Peggy at Sam's Club shopping. He was a quiet and generous man, and I liked him immensely. I hope that he can rest in peace now. I loved spending winter vacations at Pico with him and his family. It's too bad we weren't able to stay in touch. Todd Bolich.

My prayers of comfort are with all who loved Jim. I reach out to Jim´s family with hugs of strength during this challenging time of loss. Jim was my Mentor. He came to Dee Lumber when I was a floundering knucklehead and took me under his wing. Fortunately, I listened and absorbed his knowledge, teaching and wisdom to enable me to provide a good life for my family. Jim loved his family. You could feel the love and pride when he spoke of his children, the excitement in his voice prior to traveling to France to visit Maribeth and the grandchildren. May God grant Jim peace and bless Peggy and the entire Krouse family.

To Peggy and the entire Krouse family my deepest condolences on the loss of Jim. Jim was my go to tax
preparer and fishing confidant on the Ventnor Pier. He was truly a gentleman and a scholar, besides being an established fish monger. Jim , Thanks for the Memories
RIP . Sincerely,
Steve Collins

My deepest condolences. My father and Jim worked together at Coastal State Bank. Me, Jimmy, and Maribeth worked there too as teenagers. Wonderful memories. Jim was also instrumental in getting me hired at Dee Lumber. God bless.
