Jean Kathleen Mong

1934 - 2021

Mong, Jean Kathleen (Weed), - 86, of Absecon Highlands, affectionally known as "Mom Mom" went home to be with the Lord, January 24, 2021 4:10 pm at Shore Medical Center. She was born in Atlantic City, October 17, 1934. She was raised in "Seaview Park" by her parents, Franklin and Dorothy Weed along with her 3 siblings She graduated Pleasantville High School class of 1954, where she met and married the love of her life William "Bill" Mong III. She was a Resident of Absecon Highlands since 1954, she also resided in Weymouth since 1984 and most recently lived in Egg Harbor Township since 2019. She was a past member of Absecon Highlands PTA, past officer of Bayview Volunteer Ladies Auxiliary, Charter member of the Galloway Township Athletic Association, and former owner of "The Image Maker Beauty Salon" in Northfield. Jean never met a stranger, and left others feeling as though they were the only person in the world and that they were her "best friend". Jean settled in Absecon Highlands with husband "Bill" of 66 years where she raised her 5 children. She loved learning new technology where she enjoyed Facebook and staying in touch with family and friends. She loved crocheting and in one recent year felt in her heart to crochet hundreds of lap blankets to deliver to Senior Assistant homes throughout the community. She was the life of the party and could always be found as the last one on the dance floor. We know that she was greeted in heaven by her beloved sons, Donald and Wayne Mong, along with her parents, Dorothy and Franklin Weed, and many other beloved family members. Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, Bill, and devoted children, William (Janice) Mong IV, Constance "Connie" Mong, Lori (Andy) Holman RN "her favorite son-in-law"; her loving brothers and sister, Geraldine "Jerry" (Joe) Carvelli, Franklin "Lee" (June) Weed, Kenneth "Kenny" Weed; and her loving in-laws, Jim (Barbara) Mong, Dorothy "Dottie McCaffrey, Pearl (Walt) Koteles. Always comforted by their "Mom mom" are 10 grandchildren and 13 adoring great-grandchildren. Thank you to our amazing team at Shore Medical Center, ICU unit, nurses, and doctors as they held her hand for us. Visitation will be held on Friday, January 29th from 9:00 t0 11:00 am with a service 11:00 am at Wimberg Funeral Home, 211 E. Great Creek Rd, Galloway, NJ 609-965-0357.
