JOHN LAIRD Obituary



LAIRD, JOHN P. III - of Munhall Gardens, PA, formerly of Linwood, passed away on January 9, 2013, at the age of 58 after a courageous battle with cancer. Beloved husband of Marlene (Rettger) Laird; father of Scott A., John P. IV, Brigid A., Mark D. and Daniel M.; John was predeceased by his parents John P. and Mary (Ward) Laird Jr., grandparents, John P. Laird and Marjorie Chmielewski, Martin and Brigid (Hastings) Ward, Father in Law, Donald Rettger. John is survived by his sisters M. Celestine (Jack) Houston, Therese M. (Robert) Walters, and Bernadette (Raymond) Daley, brothers James P. (Holly) Laird all of New Jersey; Geoffrey J. (Wendy) Laird of Pa., Christopher T.(Zanette) of Fla. and mother-in-law Mary Rettger; also survived by many nieces and nephews. John was a 1972 graduate of Holy Spirit High School where he played tennis and basketball. John continued with his basketball and tennis passion at ACCC and later moved onto Drexel University. John received a Bachelor's degree from Robert Morris College. John was a courier for Fed Ex and a former employee of USS Homestead Works. He was a former baseball coach for Munhall and McKeesport D.N.L League and a fanatic of the Philadelphia Phillies, Flyers and Eagles. A Memorial Mass will be held on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Somers Point, Viewing 11:00 AM with Mass starting at 12:00 PM. Donations may be made to Gilda's Club or the American Heart Association in John's name. (Local arrangements by George H. Wimberg F.H.)

we were the next door neighbor of his parents in Linwood -the Callaghans at 1526 Shore rd.I remember when he was born and later coming over our house. MY sisters used to baby sit him.I sorry to hear of his loss but he gave me some fond memories when he was little.I will have him my prayers with the rest of the Lairds
