John Pepitone Obituary
PEPITONE, JOHN M., 81 - of Vineland, passed away Thursday, August 25, 2005, at his home surrounded by his loving family. He served for over three years in the US Marines during World War II. He was a mortar crewman and rifle marksman serving in the Pacific combat in Bougainville B.S. I and also in Guadalcanal. After his honorable discharge from the Marines, on December 14, 1946, he married Mary L. Cristiano , his wife of 58 and a half years. John was a 50 year member of the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craft workers. He was past president and business agent of Local #48. He was an outstanding craftsman in masonry and a skilled bricklayer. In his early baseball career he played for the Chicago Valdosta Team in 1946. He was a member of St Francis of Assisi Parish, the Sicilian-American Club, the American Legion Post #4, and the Bobby B Hunting Club. John enjoyed gardening, hunting with his pet beagles, golfing, traveling and baseball; but most of all he enjoyed spending time with family and friends especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Mary Louise (Cristiano) Pepitone, Vineland; daughters, Rosemary and her husband, Joseph Ribustello, Commack, NY, Catherine and her husband, Enrico Collini, Richland, Anita Wagner, Vineland; sons, John E. Pepitone, Vineland, Joseph T. Pepitone and his wife, Michele, Millville; sisters, Lena Tammaro , Vineland, Anita Fisher Vineland; ten grandchildren and two great grandchildren, Predeceased by sisters, Francis Angeleri and Josephine Imburgia; three brothers, Mario (Lamar) Pepitone and Frank Pepitone and Mario Errera; son-in-law: Robert E. Wagner . Visitation will be held on Monday from 7 pm to 9 pm in Rone Funeral Service and again Tuesday 9:15 am to 10:15 am in St. Francis of Assisi Church, 23 W. Chestnut Ave. Vineland A Funeral Liturgy will follow Tuesday at 10:30 AM from St. Francis Of Assisi Church. Interment will follow in Cumberland County Veterans Cemetery, Trench Rd., Bridgeton.
