Joseph S. Foglio

1934 - 2022

Foglio, Joseph S, - 88, of Palermo, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2022 at home. Formerly of Ocean City, NJ, he was a resident of Palermo, NJ for the last 35 years. Joe was born in Ocean City, NJ in 1934 to Gennaro and Anna Maria (Migliaccio) Foglio. He grew up in the heart of the Italian neighborhood of Ocean City, also referred to as Macaroni Street. He graduated from Ocean City High School in 1952 where he was an accomplished and talented athlete lettering in football, basketball and track. Joe married his high school sweetheart and the love of his life, Lynn, in 1954. Shortly thereafter in 1957 they started their family and Joe began his 42 year career as a firefighter with his second family, the Ocean City Fire Department. He retired in 1999 with the rank of Captain. Joe was a devoted, loving husband and father who always put his family first. A man of few words he would often say "your family is everything." In retirement, Joe enjoyed the simple pleasures such as a walk around his neighborhood, his morning coffee run and chat with the guys at Ralph's deli and dinners with his family at Dino's diner or the Crab Trap. He also looked forward to his bi-weekly lottery ticket run to Shop Rite and the first Monday of the month breakfast gathering with his OCHS class of 1952 classmates. Most importantly he cherished the time spent with his great-grandchildren, Abbey and Joey and their mother Amber. Joe was predeceased by his wife of 64 years, Lynn. He is survived by his son Dan of Palermo, NJ; daughter Lisa and her spouse Martha of Williamsburg, MA; son Joe of Palermo, NJ. He leaves five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him. Services will be privately held with his final resting place in Seaside Cemetery, Palermo, NJ.
