Joseph Previti Obituary

Joseph Peter Previti, Jr.

October 30, 1940 - August 17, 2025

Joseph Peter Previti Jr "Capt. Crazy" 84, of Ventnor, New Jersey, passed away peacefully at home taking his final firehouse nap, on Sunday, August 17, 2025.

Born on mischief night, October 30, 1940, in Atlantic City, N.J., to the late Joseph P. Previti Sr. and Patricia L. Previti, he was the youngest of three children. He graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1959 and lived in Atlantic City for the following 20 years. He later moved to Ventnor, where he lived for the next 45 years. He was a devoted catholic his entire life.

Joe was employed with Shoprite and Acme as a cashier and over night stocker. There he met lots of people in the community who knew him as a hard worker and dedicated family man. If you knew Joe, you'd know his hard work and dedication didn't end there. Joe was proud to serve six years in the National Guard before his time with the ACFD. Being on the Atlantic City Fire Department was a dream of Joe's since he was a young boy. He dedicated 33 Years of his life to ACFD, but it didn't end when he retired. He always had endless stories from his time with the department and he loved spreading his knowledge to everyone around. Capt. Crazy was known as a jokester, but someone you could always rely on.

Joe is survived by his loving wife Pat Previti. Married for 62 beautiful years, but they knew each other since they were 8 and 9 years old. He's also survived by his three children, their spouses, six grandchildren and lots of fur grand babies. His children - Joseph P. Previti III, a retired Atlantic City Police Officer and his wife Michelle Previti, Kathleen A. Almodovar and her husband Norman Almodovar, and Jeff Previti, an Atlantic City Firefighter and his wife Noelia Previti. He was adored and deeply loved by his six grandchildren who knew him as Poppop. Oldest to youngest, Isabella Previti, Joshua Almodovar, John Almodovar, Angelina Previti, Jeffrey Previti Jr, and Sofia Previti.

Joseph was known by many and was a huge part of this community. He will be greatly missed and remembered for years to come.

His funeral services will be held on Wednesday, August 27, 2025 at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield, N.J. 08225. Family and friends may gather from 9:30 to 11 a.m., followed by a memorial service at 11 a.m. Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family.

Joe and his family would like to thank ACFD Relief Association for their support and assistance through this hard time. We would also like to thank Adams-Perfect funeral home for their guidance and help. Lastly, we'd like to thank all family and friends who have reached out and showed us so much support, we love you all!
