Kenneth (Ken) Harvey Ross
Kenneth (Ken) Harvey Ross, 84, of Ventnor City, N.J., passed away peacefully on October 28, 2025, at Atlantic City Hospital. Born December 27, 1940, in Reading, Mass., Ken was a 1962 graduate of Boston University, receiving a Bachelor of Science degree in Broadcasting. After college, Ken entered the United States Air Force and served in Radar Control, guiding our planes as they protected our nation, retiring with the Rank of Captain. Along with site duties in and around the US, Ken also served in Iceland during the Vietnam era as part of our Early Warning Detection Program, keeping America safe. Ken's familial background was important to him as a proud Scott and a true Highlander. He was a 1st-generation Scott-American as his father, Hugh Alexander Ross, Sr., was born and raised in Embo, a tiny fishing village outside of Dornoch, in northern Scotland. Ken's passions and pursuits reflected his adventurous and vibrant spirit. He was a skilled pilot; loved flying his single engine Bonanza, was an accomplished salesman, and a gifted actor performing in such plays as "Our Town", Shakespeare's "Much Ado About Nothing", "On Golden Pond", "Inherit the Wind," and "Lend Me A Tenor" with his son, Scott. This past December, Ken performed in "White Christmas" as General "Hank" with the Gateway Playhouse. Ken also enjoyed venturing out onto the golf course with friends and on several cruises to exciting locations. Whether in the skies, on stage, on the high seas, in business, or on the greens, Ken approached life with energy, humor, and an enduring sense of purpose. Part of that purpose was his service to fellow Veterans at the Longport American Legion Post 469, where he served as Vice Commander and Treasurer. He was particularly active in the Wounded Warrior Program, where each year a wounded Veteran is brought to our South Jersey Shore, wined and dined; showing them how much we appreciate each and every soldier's service. Along with Ken's many activities and accomplishments, he was very devoted to his family and friends. He enjoyed many summer visits from children and grandchildren, watching them have fun in the sun and sand. His Ventnor home, nicknamed "Salty Ayre," frequently hosted friends and family for a fun visit to the South Jersey Shore. Ken was predeceased by his parents, Charlotte Harvey Ross and Hugh Alexander Ross Sr. of Reading, Mass., and sisters, Marilyn Ross Povenmire and Beverly Ross Stone. He is survived by his beloved wife, Georgieanne Scott Ross; his brother, Hugh Alexander Ross, Jr.; his son Scott Alexander Ross and wife Ruth; his daughter Gina Ross Murdoch and husband Robert; and his cherished grandchildren, Steven Ross Murdoch, Alex Christine Murdoch, Paul Alexander Ross, and William Scott Ross, and many nieces and nephews.
