Lynne Cassanto Sennett
August 14, 1944 - August 11, 2025
Lynne Rose Cassanto Sennett, 80, of Linwood, N.J. peacefully passed into the hands of her Savior at 11:11 a.m. on August 11, 2025 in Cape May Court House Nursing and Rehab Center, NJ. Lynne was preceded by her parents, Daniel J and Anne (Mayo) Cassanto, of South Philadelphia; and her husband of eight years, Gordon H. Sennett (d. 1996 in Hunt Valley, M.D.). An 86-year-old sister, Regina Cassanto Rolph, resides in Braeside, Ontario, Canada. All three sisters performed as charter members of the famous Royaleers All Girls Drum and Bugle Corps during junior and high school. Lynne is further fondly remembered by three nephews.
While Lynne arrived at birth with an unexpected twin sister, Lynda Marie Cassanto Casserly, currently of Milton, Del. on August 14, 1944 in Lawrence, Kan. the family returned to the East coast where the three close siblings grew up in Erlton, N.J. now Cherry Hill. The Franciscan Sisters of Alleghany, N.Y. educated Lynne at Christ the King grammar school and St. Mary of the Angels Academy, both in Haddonfield, N.J. Lynne continued with the Franciscans as a professed Religious nun, earning her undergrad degree from St. Bonaventure University. Lynne shifted from education to nursing, assigned to St. Claire's Hospital in Manhattan N.Y., the Hell's Kitchen District of the Big Apple. Later Lynne shifted from nursing in 1977 to pioneering, with three other Franciscan Sisters, the very first Shelter in NYC for Homeless Women, " The Dwelling Place", which concluded her service as a Nun with the Franciscans.
Following a further degree at NY's Columbia U, and her RN, Lynne attended Johns Hopkins to earn her MPH which opened multiple doors in her distinguished dedication to executive health care administration of large institutions for alcoholics, drug addicts and the homeless in MD and NJ. For the last 10 years of Lynne's Alzheimer's conditions, she was looked after daily by Gordon's lifelong live-in grandson, Tommy Sennett, whom Lynne has raised single-handedly in her home for the previous 23 years as his legal guardian. The significant long-term and consistent generosity of Hank Glasser and Beth Greenland transformed Lynne's last few years into stress free home management and high-quality personal care assistance. A Celebration of Life Luncheon will be on Saturday, October 4, 2025 at 12 p.m. at the Anchorage Tavern, 823 Bay Avenue, Somers Point, NJ 08244. Condolences at
