Ramon Hernandez

HERNANDEZ, RAMON 70 - Businessman and beloved husband of Carmen Hernandez for 53 years, passed away Saturday, June 14, 2008, at his home under hospice care. Ramon was born in Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico. He was a resident of Vineland for 39 years. A distinguished graduate of American Detective Academy in Puerto Rico and worked for the Vineland State School as a Cook for 10 years. He also worked for the Cumberland County Sheriff's Department. He was the owner and operator of the Aibonito Restaurant, Circle News, Hernandez Supermarket, the International Restaurant, P.R. Furniture and Charlie's Liquor Store. He also had 22 rental properties throughout Vineland. Ramon was active in a number of civic organizations, including the Puerto Rican Active Community. He and his wife were co-recipients of Grand Marshall Puerto Rican Parade. He was awarded the Businessman of the Year. He is survived by his wife Carmen, daughters Marilyn Hernandez and companion Rafael Morales of Vineland, Jarry and Alan Morales of Egg Harbor Township and Elizabeth and Wilfredo Rodriguez of Vineland. Grandchildren Ray Colon, wife Nancy and great-grandchildren Bryanna, Brandon and Arianna. Jaselyn Rodriguez and husband Anthony, great-grandchildren Eddie Sauro Jr., Samantha and Alex, William Mercado and companion Beth Cavallero; great grandchildren William III, Nyziah and Giovannie, Leslie Lafontaine and grandchild Jaden Ferrer, Germanlee Rodriguez and companion Belinda Velez; great- grandchildren Nyah, Eliza and Lee Jr., Jarry Rodriguez, Freddie Rodriguez and great-grandchild Victoria, sister-in-law Rita Ruiz, brother-in-law and sister-in-law Laura and Juan Rivera. He is predeceased by his grandson, Hector Cordero Jr., four brothers, and 4 sisters. Funeral home visitation will be held on Tuesday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Wednesday 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Rone Funeral Service. A Funeral Service will be held Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home.
