ANDERSON, RICHARD STANLEY "SKIPPY" 78 - of Atlantic City, passed away Thursday, October 28, 2010, in Eastern Pines Nursing Home, Atlantic City. Richard was born in 1931, to Thelma and John Anderson, who had another son, the late John Anderson, Jr. Both boys were raised on the famous Kentucky Avenue. I still remember the days of Kentucy Ave.Going to my Uncle's Hair Salon with my MoM and Dad,and going to see Skip and Mrs Audrey. Those days were the good days,Skip still back then seemed to lighten up the block. He will be missed. Seems like yesterday I him saw riding down the Atlantic Ave, in his chair, Still running things but only on another block. Skip made his presence known. LOL RIP Skip

Omar, Abdullah and Tarik, you know how far back I go with your Dad! Skip was and always will be one of the most giving and warmest Spirit's that I have ever known! He has always been his own Man and person which I admired and respected about him for as long as I've known him. In a time and era when Atlantic City was going through its own challenging times during the tumultuous 60’s and its insidious Racism, Skip was a beacon of strength, courage and inspiration to many of us!

The store/shop on Kentucky Avenue was more than just that, it was (THE) symbol of "Black Power & Pride" and I was Blessed to have discovered and awakened my Black Consciousness through the Books, Literature, Music, Clothing, Art and Discussions that were readily available there!

Skip has Transitioned on and will be at Peace forever. He will always remain in my heart, mind and Spirit and I thank him for all that he did to inspire a young boy into becoming the MAN that I am today! Much love, condolences and respect to you and your family.
