Richard Paul Geppert, 87, of Brigantine passed away suddenly on Friday June 13, 2025.
With heavy hearts, we announce the unexpected passing of Richard Paul Geppert, who left us last Friday in the presence of his loving family. He is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Pat; stepchildren Lars Paul Taboga (Mia Taboga) and Kimberly Kaphan (Mark Kaphan); grandchildren Ella, Dylan, and Max; daughter Trisha Haber (and family); and sisters Marie Steinhauser and Joan Reed. He's also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, and their families, as well as many cousins and extended family members. Richard is reunited in peace with his father, William A. Geppert, and his mother, Anna Marie Carberry Geppert; his brothers, William A. Geppert Jr., Joseph Geppert, and Gentleman Jim Geppert; and his sisters, Nancy Duff and Lorraine Sirianni.
Richard's legacy resonates deeply within the Geppert family, our valued clients, and our extensive subcontracting network. Renowned for his unwavering integrity, humility, and exceptional leadership, Richard's impact transcends measure. His ethos of leading through example distinguished him, serving as a beacon of inspiration to all fortunate enough to cross paths with him.
Richard, a proud native of Germantown, Philadelphia, attended numerous illustrious local Catholic schools over the years. Still, he swore that all he needed was the demolition trade and that firsthand lived experience was the only proper education he required. Richard also proudly served his country in the US Army, exemplifying a life filled with vibrant experiences. His unwavering commitment to his family, including their cherished dog, Charlie, was evident in every facet of his being. Alongside his beloved wife, Mary Pat, Richard's zest for life blossomed as their family expanded, embracing each moment with enthusiasm.
Richard and Mary Pat embarked on thrilling adventures worldwide, exploring the captivating landscapes of Australia and the scenic beauty of New Zealand, where they fearlessly experienced bungee jumping. As their family expanded with love and laughter, their getaways evolved into more fulfilling experiences, adorned with cherished moments alongside their adored grandchildren, Ella, Dylan, and Max. Whether casting lines at sea, relishing in backyard barbecues on the deck, or ardently backing their beloved teams, the Eagles and Phillies, Richard treasured the uncomplicated pleasures that life bestowed upon him and his family.
Richard's legacy is a testament to love, adventure, and a deep appreciation for life's simple joys. His nurturing spirit extended not only to caring for his cherished Koi Pond and feeding the ducks but also to the compassion and devotion he shared with everyone in his circle. Those who knew Richard were always welcomed into the warm home he shared with Mary Pat, where they were graciously treated to his captivating stories from his legendary past. In every interaction, Richard radiated kindness and joy, making others feel valued and leaving behind a legacy of love and genuine connection.
Above all, Richard's unwavering faith stood as the cornerstone of his existence, guiding him through both triumphs and tribulations in life. This steadfast belief not only shaped his character but also fueled the compassion and kindness he generously bestowed upon others. For over 70 years, Richard annually reflected on his experiences at the weekend men's retreat at Malvern Retreat House, walking steadfastly in the footsteps of his Maker.
Richard Geppert, a key figure in the legacy of Geppert Bros., Inc., dedicated his life to continuing the work initiated by his father, William Sr., back in 1925 for his four sons, Bill Jr., Joe, Jim, and Richard. His contribution to reshaping the Philadelphia skyline over the years stands as a testament to his commitment and pride in his work. The enduring legacy established by Richard's father and further developed by him and his brothers ensures a lasting impact on the community, clients, and employees of Geppert Bros., Inc. This legacy will continue to benefit future generations, reflecting a commitment to excellence and service that defines the Geppert family's heritage.
Although Richard transitioned from his active leadership role in recent years, his impact and presence at Geppert Bros., Inc. remain deeply cherished. His philanthropic endeavors and ongoing involvement with the Knights of Columbus exemplify his dedication to serving the community. In honoring Richard's memory, we will carry forward his legacy of integrity, humility, and unwavering leadership in all that we do.

Relatives and friends are invited at to attend the Life Celebration and viewing for Richard on Friday, June 20th, 2025, 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 331 8th Street South Brigantine, NJ and Saturday, June 21st, 2025, 9:30 – 11:20 a.m.. Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 a.m. Entombment will be at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing, NJ.
