Richard Jacobson Obituary

Jacobson, Richard, - 74, of Delray Beach, FL, son of Martha and Jules Jacobson died peacefully on May 4th in the presence of his family. Richard was born in Atlantic City and raised in Margate. He graduated Atlantic City High School in 1964. Richard was athletic, bright, and had an engaging personality. Through every phase of his life, he had many, many friends. He was a wealth management professional in Philadelphia before returning to Atlantic City to join his father in the family business, "Globe Cleaners". With the advent of casinos, he transformed the business into a multifaceted company, serving many aspects of property maintenance as it related to the hotel industry. He also used his business acumen to help many local charities. Richard was an entrepreneur through his whole life with a love of family at the forefront. He would light up the room with his energy, laughter, and ideas. He will be missed but not forgotten. He is survived by his children, Brett (Antoinette) and Rene (Adam) Wiener and his grandchildren, Ami, Emunah, Emanuel, Ethan, and Jack, as well as, his sisters and brothers-in-law, Wilma (Richard) Dannenbaum and Sondra (Mel) Sorkowitz, nieces and nephews and his loving partner, Lynne Kalter. Funeral services will be private. A memorial service on Zoom will be held during the summer and will be open to all. Donations in his memory may be made to the charity of the donor's choice. What a guy! Richard had such gusto and exuberance and goodwill toward all. His appreciation of life and his fellow humans knew no bounds. We went to school together in Margate and ACHS and Temple, but I did not really know him until we became telephone buddies much later in life. We talked about everything and everyone, albeit in a nice way. His understanding of people and life was helpful to me, and I learned a lot from those calls. We shared a great love and appreciation of our Jewish heritage and Margate--the best place to grow up--and the wonderful people who influenced us in our early years. I miss him more than words can say say.

He made me laugh unto tears.

Richard, your red hair, your fiery eyes, your keen wit and kind heart ... I'm so glad God made you. Rest well wherever you are. You are remembered here with much love and affection always.

Saddened to read about the passing of a fellow member of the ACHS class of 1964. May Richie's memory be a blessing.
