Robert Campiglia Obituary

Robert Campiglia

October 6, 1938 - June 30, 2024

On June 30, 2024, Robert James Campiglia ("Campi"), age 85, passed away peacefully after living bravely with dementia. Prior to his end of days at Royal Suites in Galloway, Campi lived at The Berkley in Atlantic City, where he enjoyed spending time at the casinos and on the beach with many friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents; Robert Campiglia and Loretta (nee Vicini) Campiglia and his sister; Jacquelyn Rodin. Campi was born in Newark and grew up in the Jersey City area. He attended college in Burlington, VT and in Montreal, Canada. Campi was a Certified Public Accountant. In addition to his auditing work, which included his employment at the Atlantic City Race Track, Campi helped many clients and friends navigate the filing of their personal and business tax returns.

Campi dressed to the nines and had a collection of Fedora hats like none other. He enjoyed his travels and concerts, but he lived for skiing in Lake Tahoe and playing the ponies in Saratoga. He was proud of his Italian heritage, loved his wine and the ladies. Campi will be remembered with a laugh and a smile by all who knew him.

A graveside service will take place on Wednesday, July 31st, at 12 p.m., at St. Bernard Cemetery, 551 Route 28 Bridgewater, NJ 08807, at the intersection of Route 28 and Vanderveer Road.

I´m sorry to hear that Campi has passed. He truly was a man who knew how to have fun and loved his friends and family. We were friends for many, many years, and unfortunately lost touch but he was always in my thoughts. There are so many memories but one special one is when I had just given birth to our son and "Campi Claus" came to visit my 6 year old daughter. She was so surprised! He will be missed. RIP my friend.

I met Campi many years ago at the Library III. He was quite a character but as I realized many years later a true gentleman and a very good person and friend. He got me a job at the AC Race Track when I was down on my
And that job turned into a career. I enjoyed my talks with Campi and he certainly was a great Santa Claus who thought about others at that time of the year and brought a hand picked gift to children at each stop he made and there where many. Rest in peace my friend and I hope to meet up again one day.

My sister Patty Lax asked me to comment about campi-Clause. Campi, as Santa Caluse, visited our house many Christmas Eves to the delight of our kids. I'm told he used to deliver over 80 presents to various kids that night; with a schnapps at each visit.

To The Family, I was so saddened to learn of Campi's passing. I am sure Russell was at Heaven's Gate to welcome him home. Many a GOOD TIME I shared with Campi over the years. No other like him. His memory will truly live on. May he rest in the arms of GOD. My sympathy and my prayers. Love Gail XOXO
