McAndrew, Robert T. (Bob), - a beloved teacher, family man, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 16, 2023, at the age of 83. He was born and raised in Dunmore, PA, and was the cherished son of the late John T. and Madeline (O'Connell) McAndrew, and the devoted husband of Jeanette (Trotta) McAndrew, with whom he shared a beautiful partnership since their marriage in 1959.
Bob graduated from Dunmore High School as a member of the class of 1958. He went on to pursue a passion for teaching young people, earning a degree in Elementary Education from East Stroudsburg University. His commitment to the potential of children and the value of education led him to Glassboro State College, where he obtained a BA in Education. Over his remarkable career, spanning more than four decades, Bob shared his knowledge and passion for learning as a dedicated teacher. He started his career with the Egg Harbor Township School District and later joined the Atlantic City Public Schools in 1969, leaving a lasting impact on the community at Massachusetts Ave., Madison Ave./Uptown Complex, and the Brighton Ave. Schools.
Bob's dedication to education was widely recognized by his students and peers and he was honored as Teacher of the Year in 1980. Beyond the classroom, he found joy in golf, horse racing, and embarking on long road trips across the US. An avid sports fan, he shared his enthusiasm for games with all who knew him. But above all, Bob's heart was filled with love for God, his son Jesus, and his profound affection for children in all aspects of life. In 2003, he was baptized, and from that moment on, he devoted his life to sharing the Gospel with everyone he met.
Known by many names such as "Bob," "Mac," "Teach," "Jake," "Cap," and "Grandpa," Bob touched the lives of countless individuals with his warmth, kindness, and compassion.
