Russell C. Bond, Jr.

May 31, 1938 - August 31, 2025

Russell C. Bond, Jr., age 87, of New Haven County, Conn. (by way of Egg Harbor Township, N.J.) passed away on August 31, 2025 with his daughter, Hawa, and his grandson, Robbie, by his side.

Russell was born on May 31, 1938 to Edith Mae Bond (nee Vaughn) and Russell C. Bond, Sr. in Portsmouth, Virginia. He enlisted in the Navy in 1956 and served until his honorable discharge in 1959 before moving to New Jersey.

Russell was married to his first wife, Shirley Young, in 1958 until they divorced in 1973. He is predeceased by his second wife of 49 years, Barbara G. Bond of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, who passed away in October 2022.

Russell was a long-time laborer and member of Local 415, from which he retired in 1994 after 30 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked as a casino guard in Atlantic City and for the County of Atlantic before fully retiring to a leisurely life with his family.

Russell is survived by his daughter, Hawa Bond of New Haven County, Conn.; and her two sons, Darius Bond of Erie, Pa. and Robert "Robbie" Barnes of New Haven County, Conn. He is also survived by his only son, Chris Estelle; and two more daughters, Denine and Crystal (of unknown whereabouts).

Burial arrangements are being handled by Boakes Funeral Home in Mays Landing, N.J. To honor his final wishes, there won't be a public ceremony.
