Verna Garrish Obituary
Verna F. Garrish (née Barker-Morrow-Govoni), 85, of Ocean City, NJ, passed away surrounded by her loved ones on January 21, 2025. Born on November 12, 1939, in Kittanning, PA, Verna dedicated her life to her family and her faith. She raised her family in Magnolia, NJ, where she worked as a credentialing specialist for The Kennedy Health System until her retirement. Afterward, she made her home in Ocean City, NJ, where she spent her later years. Verna was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Known for her unwavering faith, she was an exceptional seamstress, crafter, and a talented cook and baker. Verna had a positive outlook on life and loved animals. She was a member of St. Peter's Church in Ocean City, NJ, and was involved in social groups and volunteering throughout her life. Verna is survived by her son, Richard of York, PA; her daughter, Allison of Ocean City, NJ; her twin sister, Vonna Myers; and her beloved grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sons, Michael and Brian; and her daughter, Andrea. Verna's memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. Her strength, kindness, and faith serve as an enduring legacy.
Her services will be held at the George H. Wimberg Funeral Home in Linwood, NJ, on Saturday, February 1st. 10 a.m. visitation and 11 a.m. memorial service. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Verna's memory to The Funny Farm Animal Rescue and Sanctuary at www.funnyfarmrescue.org. Condolences may be extended to the family at ghwimberg.com.
